Whoopi Goldberg is known for having strong opinions about people and events. In the latest, the talk show panelist bluntly told the press that she doesn’t really care who is going to replace the ultra-conservative co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck because they’re not friends.

“Let me tell you this about The View: I take a paycheck every other week. That’s all I do. I could give a s**t what comes. I do my job — I have a contract. That’s where I stand. I don’t give a f**k,” Goldberg told Us Weekly at Vanity Fair’s Tribeca Film Festival party on Tuesday.

Rumor has it that Elisabeth could be leaving the show. This means a replacement is needed.

Whoopi doesn’t care who it’ll be though, saying she’s there for the money.

“Whatever y’all want. Just make sure my check doesn’t bounce!” said 57-year-old Goldberg.

“I don’t care. That’s not my job… My job is to show up and be cute by 11 o’clock and get the f**k off that show by 12. And that’s what I try to do.”

And you won’t find Whoopi publicly speculating about who’s the front-runner.

“I think it’s the only way to keep your sanity because these are not decisions that I get to make,” she told Us. “It ain’t my show. It’s Barbara’s show.”

But we did hear that actress Brooke Shields is being considered to fill the spot.

On top of all of that gossip, there’s word that Barbara Walters may retire next year

I guess Brooke is okay as a Hasselbeck replacement but I hope they don't just have Whoopi, Sherri, Brooke and a guest cohost all season when Barbra isn't there. yuck. And no Susie Essman is the poor man's Joy so not here either.

I can't take more than two minutes of those harpies screeching. I can't imagine any replacement is going to change that situation.

And I still can't believe how much of a pass Whoopi got for her "it's not rape rape" nonsense.

Cerebus loves him some Whoopi Goldberg. I mean, come on! She's freakin' Guinan! However, I remember a stand up show she did for HBO back in the day that was quite possibly the most unfunny, grating, curse word ridden hour of television I have ever seen. Her quotes here reminded me of that. I totally agree with what she's saying, though.

I like her okay, but to me she's someone who has completely rested on her laurels.

She began as an ambitious actor of both stage and screen, and now she's just Whoopie. She appears places and she's herself, and I like her, but she hardly seems like she ever tries.

Whoopi's had a few boneheaded opinions over the years. Whoopi said cause Mel Gibson was friends with her that he couldn't be racist, which is dumb. People can have prejudice and still be fond of an indivdual in that group.






At the same time, I've never been more proud to watch The View during this moment.

I remember trying to watch a part of the show years ago... I think because Mary J. Blige was on one of the episodes and I couldn't watch it all the way. It annoyed me that much.
