Sources connected with the actress and her fiance, Olivier Martinez, tell TMZ ... Halle is around 3 months pregnant -- based on the pics and some other facts we know ... she may be a little further along.

What's more ... they know the sex. It's a boy.

This could explain why Halle and Olivier were so upset when paparazzi got too close to her earlier this week at LAX while she was carrying soon-to-be big sister Nahla, who is 5.

It's definitely worth noting ... Halle is 46, and Olivier is 47.

Check out this pic of Halle at the Oscars (above) in late February. A source connected with the actress tells us Halle was feeling sick and was complaining she had gained a little weight. We're told days later she found out she was pregnant.

Last year, Halle Berry said that her daughter Nahla had been hoping for a younger sibling, and the 4-year-old is finally getting her wish: ABC has confirmed that the actress, 46, is pregnant.

“[Nahla] says, ‘God, please bring me a bunk bed and a baby sister,’” she said last fall. “I say, ‘I can do one of those things, I know for sure. The other one, we’ve got to keep praying on.’”

Berry and her fiancé Olivier Martinez, 47, are expecting a baby boy, TMZ reported, though her rep would not confirm that detail. The couple was engaged in January, 2012.

“I have an amazing daughter that I’m wildly proud of who’s the love of my life,” Berry said in October. “In my life, I think about what images I’m modeling for my daughter; decisions I’m making and how that will affect her in her life.”

Surely, that will continue with baby number two, as well.

The mother of 5-year-old Nahla is expecting her first child with fiancé Olivier Martinez, the actress' rep confirmed to the Ministry on Friday.

Her rep would not confirm any additional details, though other outlets have reported they're expecting a boy.

"Halle and Olivier are really excited," a source told E News. "It's a blessing. They can't wait to have a baby together."

The source added that the Oscar winner -- who'll also be appearing in next year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" -- is at the beginning of her second trimester, about 12 weeks along.

The baby boy will join Berry's daughter, whom she had with her ex-boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry.

Berry, 46, and Martinez, 47, met on the set of their thriller "Dark Tide" and have been dating since 2010. They announced their engagement in January 2012.

Perhaps the pregnancy is why she was so protective of her family at LAX earlier this week when she restrained Martinez from fighting with paparazzi.

The couple was on their way back from vacationing in Hawaii when the incident occured. A babymoon maybe?

That's better than the paps at least lol ! The last time she was pregnant, before it was confirmed- those asses followed her everywhere trying to figure out who her doctor was and if she was preggars; one day car chased her to the OBGYN smack into a car accident, then left her there alone in the aftermath. Sh** like this is why she wants to move to France. I can't really say I blame her lol

More power to her and congrats! I have to say, she's really going to become an inspiration to women..that your child bearing days do not end after 39 (not saying that women can't get pregnant in their 40's but you know folks say that pregnancies in the 40's are more risky). Get it Miss Halle!

Im 46 and my grandkids wear me the fuck OUT! I cant imagine being a mom 24/7 at this age! shake I mean, sure, it can be done, Maybe im just spoiled because I had my kids young and Im used to MY freedom... shrug

More power to her tho! And why doesnt that bitch age mad Cant hate her tho, shes gorgeous!!!!

Outside of doing press for when she has a project to promote, we don't see this woman all over the place (like cough, cough, Beyonce). She doesn't employ social media of any kind and neer really speaks unless spoken to about business. I wouldn't exactly call her presence in pop culture intrusive or overblown. Usually when you see her in the press outside of being on the clock it's because of some sick pap up to the usual nonsense of stalking to get a photo to sell by any means necessary. Can't really blame that on the subject being photographed...
