I Keep Freaking Out In My Sleep

I've been taking sleep aides for about 2 years now.. When I first starting taking them it was just for deeper sleep, but now I need them to fall asleep.. I don't know if that's the cause of the problem or not, but here's what's goin down now..

SN: I used to sleep walk in talk back in the day.. Haven't done it in years.. I think lurking

But now I'll be sleep, wake up.. look around a little and see images moving on the wall.. now this just started about a month ago. I thought it was the dietary supplement I was taking, so I stopped taking it. That seemed to help.. But last night, I woke up to vines and flowers spreading on the wall, sounds beautiful, but it's scary as shit.. said a little prayer, went back to sleep. I'm not looking for a diagnosis, but I just want to know if this has happened to anyone else.. The images are faint and go away when I focus..

Are you taking Ambien? That stuff is majorly addictive.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

No, I used to about a year ago.. I didn't have these problems then.

Also, I think maybe I should see a therapist or something.. I'm looking for one now

eek

Yeah, get to a doctor as soon as you can.

Sleep aides should be temporary.

There's stress (physical and/or emotional) in your life that you need to address.

I'm gonna get to the bottom of this. I don't have a reason to be stressed out, but I'm definitely not gonna rule it out..who knows

Strange Sleep Disorder Ma...e 'Demons'

lol

As for my "stress" comment; a buddy of mine is going through marital issues. He's been on Ambien for years now. Recently his situation at home imploded and he is in a hotel for the time being. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS, he has been sleeping SOUNDLY without the need of drugs!

Haven't seen any demons..soooooo don't want to. I sleep in the buff and I would probably run straight out the door lol The first night this happened I saw vines, then I looked over at the orchid on my table and it started to look like a ninja in white, moving slowly eek ..

As for the stress part, I was talking to my sister about what's going on. I told her I'm not stressed out, she told me that's the problem. She's currently seeing a therapist and the therapist told her if you're used to being under stress, once all your issues are resolved, some deeper issues that you don't think about come to the surface once again. Now this may very well be what's happening to me. I was definitely stressed months back and now I have pretty much no worries, life's kinda boring right now.. So I guess I gotta do some extra digging now confused

When I was a small child I didn't sleep walk but I'd have what you might call waking dreams.

If I suddenly woke up I'd see images, I'd usually just lay there and they'd fade away, once i woke up suddenly and I saw the clown on my wall picture coming out of the picture, I woke up the whole neighborhood trying to get out the front screen door which was luckily locked.

Anyway, it's where for an instant part of the brain is still in REM sleep yet you're awake and conscious.

Sounds like your's is simply drug induced, your brain in an instant is doing two things at once it normally doesn't do.

The hallucinations are a known side effect of another sleep disorder, narcolepsy. People suffering from this disorder often have vivid hallucinations during sleep onset or upon awakening, and brief episodes of total paralysis at the beginning or end of sleep.

Parasomnias are a category of sleep disorders that involve abnormal and unnatural movements, behaviors, emotions, perceptions, and dreams that occur while falling asleep, sleeping, between sleep stages, or during arousal from sleep. Most parasomnias are dissociated sleep states which are partial arousals during the transitions between wakefulness and NREM sleep, or wakefulness and REM sleep.

Over the counter sleep aides typically

Oh I should mention, the first night I saw the orchid ninja I didn't take anything before I went to sleep. I thought that had something to do with it and have taken something every night since then. Last night was the only other time I saw something forming or moving. I took one pill last night. When I say freaking out, on two different occasions I thought my guy friend who has a key came into my apt and got in the bed with me, but when I look over nothings there. I nvr saw him, but I felt "his" presence. For some reason, that doesn't bother me as much as seeing things move on the wall.
