When anyone dies, all the greedy folks come out of the wood work.

From the little I've read, James Brown lawyers didn't serve him well. When you have protracted litigation, someone didn't dot the i's and cross the t's. James Brown didn't keep his Will up to date hence he's also to blame to a big degree for all the courtroom drama. The lawyers will make some coins. He's kids appear to be no good, and appears to goes a long way in explaining why he chose not to leave them a dime.

James was also not planning to die so soon. Word was he was gonna renew the will when he suddenly died. So his death also played into why the will was so messed up in the first place but I still think he wanted the money to go to the charity of helping kids in school. | |

A lot people don't think they aren't going to die anytime soon; I think this was just one part of Brown's problem. With Brown's vast wealth he should have reviewed his Will yearly... if he wanted to push it every two years. I would like to think when he drew up his Will Brown's lawyers advised him and/or offered suggestions on how to make this a seamless process, especially since he had children by different women. Most lawyers know there's a greater possibility for legal wrangling when you have up-teem children in the mix. Hot mess.
