Howard Stern calls out society's BS especially on the different societal classes. So, he gives a voice to those who other wise may not. However, Stern does so at the expense of others, very crude and base like, without any empathy for those in his verbal attack range.

Stern is some what like the Jerry Springer show (SHOCK just to shock), but Stern does add to the over all conversation on society's BS, unlike Springer's show.

I think Paul Mooney is better... Howard Stern seems to say things just to shock people and not because it has any intelligent value.

This commentary on the Oprah interview was alot better than what he has done in the past.

But you haven't really heard much of Howard before, have you? Because if you did, you wouldn't think that. This was pretty par for the course as far as Howard's commentary. It wasn't really one that jumped out and grabbed me like he can do.

BUT Howard is absolutely correct in everything he says about that interview. What an awful love fest that was.

Howard Stern is a pig but he's right about the pathetic content of that interview. disbelief

When she said the Superbowl performance was "art meets God", somebody should have slapped the piss out of her.

What makes you say that?

I am not a fan but I have listened to some of his older commentary as well and I have never got a keep it real vibe from him.

Howard just wants to be controversial but just because his shocking does not mean he is "keeping it real or saying the truth" because he has said alot of things that does not make logical/intelligent sense

Paul Mooney is controversial as well but there is ALSO truth in what he says if that makes sense.

I've never really understood Oprah's success.

Oprah was a little better when her show had some edge on the same level as Phil Donahue, Geraldo, & Sally.

Her show was very good back in the day before she went Hollywood. She may be a hack now but she did earn her success. Way better than Sally and Geraldo but Donahue still has her beat.

I've never been a fan of either of them.

I've seen Oprah about 20 times and Howard about 5.

So honestly I can't really speak 2 either but I know there is something about O that I just don't like.

Howard & Robin are so on point that I think that this Stern segment is an excellent example of where art meets God.

And while we're on it, I hafta say,
since joining this site, I've come to honestly believe that all my fellow orgers are fire.
Seriously.

Oprah and Beyonce are two powerful witches. If you listen to him, and him taping the interview carefully, that's what he's possibly implying.

They all had their professional flaws, without question. But as least talk shows were very interesting until the "war on trash TV" came around. Then Donahue "retired" and all of others (except for Jerry Springer, who's show was always fake with total cooning disbelief ) started to clean up their shows and then it got safe AND boring to the point of show cancelations. In other words, the moment Jenny Jones & Ricki Lake stopped talking about hochie mamas and Montel Williams was actually helping his guests too often, it was "OVA!".

Oprah was THE only one to have a successful talk show going the safe route only because by that time, she became more of a "religion" among her fanbase than a talk show host or journalist. It is THIS version of Oprah that I'm not a fan of at all.

Yeah that was my whole point. She is just your typical daytime talk show host
who just happens to be rich. Nothing overly appealing about her show after so
many years but can't be mad at her hustle.

There is nobody who is so known and loved around the world as Oprah is. And made life better because of discussing taboos.

Mr. Stern will never, ever, ever reach as high as Oprah. And he knows that.

THe only thing he is good at, is being rude about other people. I don't find him intelligent at all.

He's just an ass. Paving the way for people to scold at eachother, be rude and sexist. I don't understand why people think he's so great.

Actually, Howard is the one discussing real taboos.

Reach as "high" as Oprah? If that's high, he doesn't want to.

He's not rude about other people; he speaks his feelings. And he's very intelligent.

People think he's so great because he speaks the truth. I guess some people just aren't comfortable with that. shrug

Now I dont get his success AT ALL.

He's refreshing (and funny!) in a world of pretense. And, if you're into celebrity, he asks the questions others are afraid to ask (and usually gets the answers to them).
