The NAILS thread (a thread for everybody)

do you like your nails?

how long are they?

do you always keep the clean?

finely shaped? glossy?

do you use (need?) products to keep them strong/healthy ?

discuss

I keep them short. I used to have a very bad habit of biting them, but Invisalign completely changed that. It's almost impossible for me to bite them now, which I guess is a good thing.

I keep them clean. But I don't use any products or keep them finely shaped or anything.

I like short nails on men. Men with long fingernails (and especially long toenails) gross me out.

Most of the time I like them, but they get brittle in the winter.

My nails aren't long, but they're not short or stubby either.

They are completely natural, I never cut them (only file) and I don't use polish or any products.

They are the "squoval" shape:

I keep my nails clean and short, which is a challenge because they grow like weeds. I also like a finished, albeit masculine, look, so I make sure my cuticles are neat and the white curves of my free edges nice and uniform. I don't buff and polish -- that's something best left to the ladies, I think.

A man keeps his nails short to the point that there is almost no free-edge.

A. I thought you were talking about nails used for construction. "Do you keep them clean" and I'm like WTF?

B. I keep them short for guitar-playing and cleanliness reasons.

I have shit for nails (and a tendency to nibble on them), so I do acrylics. I tried gels a couple months ago, but my own nails just aren't strong enough to hold them. Plus, I think the process of taking the gel off and re-applying for a bi-weekly fill is even more damaging than just covering my nails with the acrylic and leaving it there.

I like an oval shape, not too long, with colored polish. As fakes go, I think they look pretty natural.

They are the "squoval" shape:

My nails are very strong and healthy and are about the length and shape of the square shape. That shape suits my fingers the best and they also tend to break less when shaped that way.

Right now I just have a clear top coat on but I often have colour on. The brighter the better these days.

I'm a little obsessive with my nails, keeping them perfect and clean.

This is the only pic I could find with my nails in it.

Oh, thank you.

Had it blonde for about a year and a half. It's dark at the moment but it's a semi so it fades out back to blonde in the summer.

Right hand: long and square

Left hand: short and round

I play flamenco & finger-style guitar so my nails need to long on my right hand. I file them square because they don't break as easly; most flamenco players shape their nails pointed. The only problem, my index and thumb nail on my right hand break easily. I get a manicure every other month and apply hardest nails polish (clear) to strength my nails.

Most????

No way. I would say hardly any.

And I can guarantee almost all women are sickened at the thought of a long nailed man coming anywhere near them.
