I never take baths... oily skin and I get itchy afterwards. I used to shower after I bathed... but then it sort of defeats the pupose.
LOVE my HOT showers though.

Yesterday, and I'm about to take another in about 10 minutes.
I love hot baths. I take one no less than every two days or so. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I honestly can't remember. Right now my tub is full of the contents of one of my clothes closets I'm sorting for Good Will.

No it doesn´t. It´s actually the best thing you can do after a bath because just taking a bath, lying in your bath water and just getting out of it and toweldrying yourself is not exactly the best way to get clean since you basically stay in your dirty bathwater all the time and it more or less leaves dirt on your skin. At least that´s what some biology books and my biology teacher taught me.
In some countries the whole concept of bathing, i.e staying in your own bath water for an extended time without showering afterwards is considered dirty, and they´d never leave the tub without a quick shower afterwards. This is the case in most countries that are predominantly Muslim but even non-practising, non-Muslim people practice this.
However, the concept of cleansing yourself with hot water is a very old tradition there which goes all the way back to Roman times but they do it differently, like using steam rooms (Turkish bath), or hot running water with massages, etc.
These days most households do have a bath tub but still, people take a shower after bathing, or even before and after. As far as I know Japanese culture has the same notion of bathing....with a shower before and after taking a bath.
I love taking a bath but my current place only has a shower, and I go to the steamroom at my gym quite regularly (like today), so I don´t really miss having a bath tub, and the steam room makes me feel much better anyway. Whenever I did take a bath, I would shower afterwards. It just made sense to wash off the dirty water I was sitting in. I only took hot baths to relax or to ease aching muscles, not to get clean.

I don't get all this showering before and after bathing bollocks.
You're wasting water. If you're having a shower, have a shower. Wanna bath? Bathe. Fuckin ridiculous. Rinse. What about drying ourselves post OCD cleansing? How clean are our towels? Maybe we should be towel drying then washing off the residue from the towel? Then how do we dry? I really am at my wits end with all this nonsense. Not sure if I'll sleep with all the worry.
As for the Muslims washing all willy-nilly, tons of em haven't even got clean water, never mind a hot-tub.
I think we all know what's going on here. I think this thread is a thinly veiled attempt at asking us our innermost exemplaries.
I for one wipe my ass with soft paper towels. About an hour ago btw.

Over seven years ago. The apartment I lived in back then had a bathtub and I used to spend so much time in there that the entire bathroom got moldy.

Don't remember. In my teenage years? Maybe. 6ft+ don't fit in standard tubs. So, showers are my thing.

My missus often sits on the loo chattin while I'm in the bath. Must be millions of us doing it? I get her to wash my back too sometimes but I draw the line at shaving my fanny.
The cat only has to hear splashing and she's on the rug like a shot waiting for drips. She's mental, tries to catch any water flying about, you can barely get out without stepping on her.

More than ten years ago, probably.
I remember ending up in a bathtub with a woman once, but it wasn't really about "taking a bath", if you know what I mean.
I'm definitely the shower sort of guy!

I know what you mean Dave. I've never washed the dishes like that myself but yeah, think I know what you're on about.

Ex-Moderator | I take baths a few times a month. Most of the time it's a weekend morning bath and then rinse in the shower thing. (I certainly can't wash my hair in a bathtub.)
If it's a night-time bath with smelly good stuff that leaves my skin soft then I don't usually rinse off. I'm generally not that dirty anyway. And I shower first thing in the morning. |

i love the way the japanese take baths. first, they wash off thoroughly, then they sit in the hot water, then they clean off after. very thorough

Oh now I understand, makes sense... I get itchy as hell and my skin feels "filmy" when I sit in a tub of water and soap. I felt like I was wasting time and water since I would just shower after a bath. I think people with very dry skin benefit from baths for skin conditioning reasons... I still soak my feet in epsom salts. It softens my feet nicely... I do it often in the summer months when my feet are exposed to all the sun and sand.

Damn, I can't even remember. I'm a shower person. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

My God...I haven't taken a bath in a bathtub since I was a pre-teen. I'm sure bubbles were involved.
A hot tub doesn't count, right?
I considered taking a bath a few months back, maybe buying some stress-relieving bath stuff to loosen up a bit...but I never followed through with it.
