Unlike humans,who kill themselves regularly every 30 seconds around the globe,animals killing themselves are rare.They get sad,depressed like humans,but don't commit suicide.

You don't see a cheetah in the jungle think to himself that I had enough with life and run 70mph full sprint into a tree or a herd of cattle jumping off a cliff.

All those articles talk about whether animals are self aware or not being the deciding factor.

Animals would also be susceptible to mental illness?

My cousin's first dog hung himself with his collar in his cage... We all knew it was probably an accident, but as kids my brother and I were always convinced he did it on purpose because he was depressed from always being caged up for 75% of the day sad
