I don't. I keep the plastic bags I get from the market and use them when I clean out my cat's litter box.

Does this make me a bad person? I do get two uses out of those environment-destroying plastic bags...

i get plastic sometimes to pick up my dogs waste. I use paper for my garbage.

I have several reusable divided ones for my booze. These net ones are just awesome for fresh fruits and veggies, they hold a ton of stuff. But are so compact I can out them in a pocket.

Six of Wands

The Six of Wands may herald the arrival of good news; it may also mark a moment of personal glory. One of the most gratifying cards in the deck, it shows the high point of a creative journey. Self-confidence forged the path to this victory, for, as Rachel Pollack says, “Optimism produces the very success it desires and expects.” Having manifested your goals, your achievements are now honored by others. A promotion or other reward may even be granted to you. You deserve this acknowledgment, for your success benefits the whole community. Inspiring others with your triumph, people may begin to look to you for leadership. However, be wary of the human desire for heroes; don’t use your position to gain unfair advantage over others. Enjoy your time in the limelight for what it’s worth, knowing that fame may fade but your accomplishments will endure.

Four of Pentacles

The Four of Pentacles reminds us not to depend on what we own for our sense of security. The pursuit of material gain alone is barren and destructive to both individuals and the larger organism of life. A culture that has survived for so long in the desert knows that the best insurance is the love and support of community. If one falls, the others will be there to support them. This true wealth can’t be hoarded. This card may represent a time when survival instincts are needed. A genuine danger to your security could be at hand, so clever stewardship of resources is important. At the same time, don’t let irrational fears of deprivation take over. You are being asked to honestly examine your relationship with money and possessions. Recognize and appreciate the forces that sustain your life. Failure to do so brings stagnation and an ironic scarcity of funds.

On occasion I have, I have several of those reusable bags around that I bought, just sometimes I forget to bring them along.

This is a portion of an recent opinion piece in our local paper. Not my thoughts but it's an on going debate here. I do question if that last part is true.

Now that Solana Beach officials have agreed to revisit parts of their plastic bag ban because shoppers are complaining about paying a dime for paper bags, we have a suggestion: Bag the whole thing.

Solana Beach banned the use of plastic bags at grocery stores and pharmacies in August and other retailers in November. The move to ban plastic bags was started in April 2007 when San Francisco (of course) became the first city in the nation to ban plastic bags, according to Californians Against Waste. It’s since spread up and down the Golden State, on the grounds that plastic bags clog landfills, kill wildlife and in general are an environmental scourge that must be stopped, at all costs.

And yet in many cities, including Solana Beach, where this nanny-state dictate is imposed, there’s not just an inconvenience but also a cost to the consumer: to encourage shoppers to bring their own reusable cloth bags instead of simply switching to paper, paper bags come with a 10-cent surcharge.

As for those reusable fabric bags, there’s a higher risk of food-borne illness. Just last month, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that in a research paper for the Wharton School Institute for Law and Economics, two law professors found that the San Francisco ban “led to an increase in infections immediately upon implementation.” They found a 46 percent rise in food-borne-illness deaths. Their conclusion: “Our results suggest that the San Francisco ban led to, conservatively, 5.4 annual additional deaths.”

On the argument of food bourne illness, go raw vegan. Use a net bag and wash them.

...and back in the real world...

For those who choose to that's great but it ain't never going to happen in massive droves, unless some major catastrophy happens unseen in human history involving food availability.

Exactly.

The trick to never forgetting, I suspect, will be to find a reusable bag that is damned cute. lol It'd be an indispensible accessory on top of being functional.

Even so, when I shop at the market I don't carry my manbag in. That usually I carry to work with books or whatever else I might need there. Only other time I really ever carry a manbag is if I'm travelling or have to carry biz postcards or something like that with me.

At grocery store I go in with my wallet in my back pocket.

I use them when I go to Costco, otherwise it's too much of a pain in the ass to always carry them around. I reuse plastic bags for many different things, so they don't go to waste.
