Does this sound like a scam?

I met someone who said he was working with someone in the hopes of getting a job. The deal is that you pay some kind of $15.00 fee to go to a "mini-workshop" where they teach you about all these "hidden jobs" out there. They give the workshop attendees a packet that the first sheet asks for their name, address, phone number, date of birth and there's NO type of confidentiality agreement at all.

I was suspicious because the person who runs the workshop tells an 'anecdote' that is about 10 minutes, and she tells this while the people are filling out all their personal details on the form.

Then, if you want to continue to work with this "recruiter" and her team of mysterious contacts whom seem to never appear in real life, you have to spend more hours and more time. I was a bit suspect because they want to know a lot of personal information about you, even down to all the books you've ever read! This poor guy also told me about a month ago someone broke into his bank account and stole a bunch of money. Coincidentally, he was promised by this same recruiter some sort of 'job' next month that might involve travel....I am really wondering if this recruiter lady is a scammer. One time when I saw her, I deliberately went on youtube to look up news stories about ID theft and she seemed nervous and made it a point to walk behind me to look at my computer screen. It was a bit telling that something made her nervous...

What do you guys think? Is she a fraud?

Yeah I remember when this guy told me his ID was stolen that the first person that I thought of was this recruiter lady. She is very stingy and hoards EVERYTHING from anyone else. She doesn't go by her real name and seems to have some sort of strange obsession with collecting things. One of her "good friends" works for Social Security and another friend works for the IRS as a temp, something just doesn't seem right about this whole setup.

Yeah I did some research online and saw that a lot of people pose as recruiters and lure desperate job seekers into scams that way. I also checkd her facebook page and saw that she posted a note about "being hacked" and there was some sort of phising thing that went out to her followers. The weird thing is that for as much of a busybody this person is, she only had 40 ppl on her facebook page. She had really weird messages about being hacked but I am guessing that she was targeting people through facebook as well. I just hope that this poor fellow who had his bank account hacked gets it back and isn't further victimized...

Exactly and this poor fellow seems like he is just desperate for work and trying to make a living for himself. I also find it insulting that this person tries to pass off like a goody two shoes but is scamming folks left and right with this BS. I smelled a rat and didn't waste my time with this crap. I feel bad for the victims though.

Well, there's no website, the materials that are handed out seem strangely written, full of too many exclaimation marks, etc. It just seems a bit too weird. I need a job but feel that if I went that route I would have my identity stolen!!!

I just talked to someone who was working with her and he is DESPERATE for a job. Without mentioning that I talked to him, I asked her if she had heard from this guy and if he found a job. She told me that she was "supposed" to have called him but was too busy, and this guy is a sneeze away from being on the street (and so am I otherwise I would help him). I don't understand how someone goes around saying they help people find hidden jobs but someone like this guy who she knows is flipping out from poverty and unemployment? She does these workshops quite a bit and attends a lot of workshops and sells this idea to anyone who will listen. I really wonder what happens to all that information that people give to her....it's very weird

I just recently was told by this same "jobs" person that month after month she doesn't pay anything for the cable/phone/internet bill and that it's always a negative $5.00 balance month after month. How in the world is she getting a bill each month in the mail but with a negative balance? Won't the cable company catch it after a while?
