I don't think D is a lost cause. He's has to be able and willing to help himself. Someone has to provide him with the right tools. The first step is for him to take his medication so he can be somewhat grounded enough in order to figure out what he needs to do th heal himself. I believe Iylanla can help him. But, if he's not able to listen, then she's wasting her time.

Well this isn't his first "help me, help me" reality show. And if he wasn't listening the advice given on those shows, what difference will this one make?

We don't know him personally. But, I hope his family and friends don't give up hope. You should never give up hope on someone you love. I know bipolars and drug addicts seem hopeless sometimes but a lot of them do overcome and beat their demons. It may take YEARS but many of them do eventually get there in one piece. I hope this is the case for him. I'm not sure why, but I've always felt some kind of weird connection to him.confuse

You shouldn't give up on those you love, no, BUT sometimes you have to give up in order for them to see the light and turn their lives around. It's called, tough love.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

So did anyone else watch it? I'm sure it will be on repeat this week for those of you who missed the episode. It was sad disbelief I commend Iyanla for her patience in dealing with this sick and distrubed man, as he was very rude to her.

At the beginning, it seemed as though Iyanla was making a breakthough, as DMX recounted his past and what caused his addictions. We saw him crying and being real. It went downhill from there. He became very angry when the subjects of getting clean and his family were brought up. There was not a happy ending at the end of the show. DMX's oldest son asked for DMX to be clean of all the drugs/alcohol, and DMX refused. He then blew up at Iyanla 1 last time (it happened a couple times during the show) and she told him to leave, so he did. The only positive is that DMX's oldest son feels better about himself, as he was able to tell his father how he felt.

DMX has had his people put a statement out in the press that Iyanla has made DMX look bad, and made his life worse disbelief Instead of taking responsibility for what he has and has not done, DMX is now shifting blame to Iyanla. Pathetic. Hopefully some day he'll get clean before it's too late. I don't have high hopes though, as for the time being he has chosen drugs/alcohol over having a relationship with his oldest son.

This should be good. I appreciate the work Iyanla does. Her contributions to OWN's LIFE CLASS series is phenomenal.

I saw DMX's wife's show, Starter Wives in the meantime. She's a sweetheart, very tender person. I'm glad she finally got strong and confident enough to let go of his crazy butt.

Who Iyanla needs to see next is Josie Harris, the baby mama of Floyd Mayweather; she is a damaged, drunken, violent shrew with the meanest spirit I've ever seen on a tv personality. She makes those thugs from Basketball Wives Miami look like Kindergarten teachers from Walt Disney. butterfly

I adore Iyanla. She has helped me change my life. Her books are awesome!!! But, after watching a couple of those Fix My Life episodes from last season, I thought they were kind of boring. The producers probably decided to kick things up a notch for the new season. People don't want to tune into reality TV shows filled with peace and harmony. They want lots of excessive drama. That's why the Bravo Housewives shows are so popular.

Never heard of Iyanla before.

Will check her out.

He might have a true argument.

However, it might not be a bad thing that his life worsened.

Okay so I watched it...my thoughts:

I think it started off well but when Iyanla was trying to get to the root of things, X balked and refused to go further. Wasn't surprising to me since I saw him do that on that Couples reality show on VH1. He wants to cry and tell the world how he's hurt, and yes that man is definitely walking around with hurt and pain in soul, but he NEVER wants to own up to his contribution to the pain he holds inside as well as the pain he unleashes out on others close to him who love him and obviously want to see him do better. Instead of forgiving who wronged him in the past and letting that mess go, he CHOOSES to hold on to it and it seems like, disturbingly, he WANTS to hold on to it to give him an excuse to keep getting high. disbelief

Now as far as him wanting to walk away from the show, what did he expect when he AGREED to participate in it in the first place? We know that he said he agreed to do the show to get help about his addiction to women, but really, did he think he was going to be made to look like the victim? Did he actually think that he was going to be shown in a good light? I don't get it. How was the show going to portray he has positive qualities overall if he can't even confront the mistakes he made in life and most importantly, OWN up to them? confuse

Now on to his son...lawd this was so sad. His son seems to have a really good head on his shoulders. His mother was correct, he is DMX without the drugs. He's exactly that. Emotional just like him, intelligent, the whole thing. I was glad he was able to have a breakthrough of his own with Iyanla but in trying to talk to his father, in a way, I could see how DMX was getting irritated when she kept interrupting to translate or gage the conversation. It works better to just let two people hash it out. I understand why she kept engaging in their conversation because she wanted to be sure Xavier got his point across clearly to his father and not back down, but when DMX flew into that rage and literally cursed Iyanla out, that would had been it for me. Shut down the production get his ass off my show. I can't deal with totally disrespectful people. But anywho, when she finally let them talk, I think it was great, they finally got things cleared up, HOWEVER, at the end when Xavier told his father that he wanted a relationship with him only if he got clean and DMX shut him down and said no, I was taken aback. Wow. So he's going to put drugs over having a great relationship with his son, that was really shitty. Then, to rub salt in the wound he gets up and says "so I guess the next time you'll see me is when I'm dead, so get up and give me a hug" eek eek eek eek eek What in the hell? How do you say that to your own child like that? disbelief

It's crystal clear that DMX is very smart, he's no dummy for sure, but he could be so much more without all the poison of drugs, the wallowing in his pain and constant denial of how he contributes to pain he wallows in. Like I said before, some people just can't be helped and he's one of them. It just seems like he refuses to realize the damage he's doing not only to himself, but to the ones who really love him.

D is clearly in tremendous pain and he's been in it for so long, he doesn't want to come out of it. He's afraid. It's the only thing he knows. Self-medicating is the only way he knows how to deal. I really felt for his son. Can you imagine being afraid to be alone in the same room with your father???sad

Having that pain in his life gives him a continual excuse to be a substance abuser. He knows that he would have to work on himself if he stopped using, and he's not willing to do that at this point sad It's very sad. It was interesting though when he said he got clean for a brief period of time for his grandmother (because of her disappointment in seeing him high) until her death, yet he won't do that for any other family member, and of course for himself.

I don't mean to discredit the coach.

It's merely a general statement about how healthcare's attitude.

If a client doesn't respond to our therapy,

it's the fault of the client.

I think that means it's time to look for a different therapy or strategy.

It's the client who is sick.

An addict will go to great lenghts to stay addicted.

This might still be effective for DMX.

Maybe not immediately, but in a while the effect of this show might be more positive than it is now.

Iyanla Vanzant's Message To DMX: 'I Will Not Stand By And Watch My Brother Die' (VIDEO)

By OWN Posted: 04/15/2013 11:01 am EDT

After her explosive interview with multiplatinum hip-hop artist and actor DMX, Iyanla Vanzant felt that there were some important things left unsaid. Though the two haven't spoken since their sit-down in DMX's hometown of Yonkers, New York, Iyanla recorded an open message to the rapper to let him know that he's still in her heart -- and to share her lingering concerns in the hopes of helping DMX change his life.

One of those concerns stems from what Iyanla has been hearing from DMX's family and friends. "What I'm hearing is that they're just waiting for 'the call,'" Iyanla says in the clip. "You know what I mean."

Iyanla says she is taking a different approach. "I'm not waiting for that call," she tells DMX. "I'm calling on you. And I'm not going to give up on you. I will not stand by and watch my brother die."

In her message, Iyanla also reminds DMX that he has already demonstrated that he has the strength to be the best version of himself. "I want you to remember the person you became in the final months of your grandmother's life," she says. "That's a clean life. You can be that man today and every day."

Reiterating how much she believes in DMX's ability to heal, Iyanla says, "I support you. I love you. And I'm calling on all of my beloveds… to send you their love and support."

Before signing off, Iyanla reminds DMX -- and everyone listening -- just how powerful love can be. "There's no valley deep enough, no gap wide enough, no mountain high enough that love can't conquer," she says. "My door is always open."

"Iyanla: Fix My Life" airs on Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
