That said, I do not think it should be called "Titanic."..

No. "RMS Tasteless" sounds much better.

It's a fascinating, horrible and very tragic story. Not something to be taken lightly or made an amusement ride of. Enough people have made enough money out of it. That bollocks film with it's useless 'actors' being just one example.

I say have a bit of respect. Leave the wreck well alone (I think they are now) and don't build any moneyspinning replicas, however 'respectfully' you're trying to sell it.

i agree with you. kate winslet is (imo) one of the great actors of our time. with her acting chops and skill does not depend on being all cutie/pretty. plus she refuses to conform to the size 3-5 dress size to feel confident as a person.

worth seeing: she was a pure stand out in the movie remake of 'mildred pearce.'

anyway back to the topic at hand. "would i buy a ticket on the titanic replica?"

once again, nah to the infinite powerSmiley Wagging His Finger Saying NO animated emoticon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not that much of a stand out. I totally forgot about that turd of a mini movie and alll the hype they made about it. And it ended up being crap.

I dont find it disrepectful.. It was a GORGEOUS period in time.. I would think of it as a living memorial, if done right... Yes, if I could afford it, I would go...

I agree. Ships cross the Atlantic all the time.

Ships dressed up as Titanic never crossed the Atlantic.

They tried once. Something like 1500 lives were lost and hundreds of families shattered.

How could floating a replica on the same route, stuffed with fuckwitted tourists ever be done respectfully? err

Planes are in the air all the time too. How about tastefully done daily Lockerbie re-enactments? For educational purposes and to serve as living memorials. Maybe build replicas of the twin towers and fly a couple of Hindenburgs into them, do a job-lot. Some of the period clothing would be great to see scattered around. If done right.

Never said ships dress up the Titanic cross the Atlantic. Tourist come to Pearl Harbor site all the time.
