Anybody like old video games? I just wanted to drop these on random people, WHOEVER - doesn't matter if you're a geek or not: www.abandonia.com .
I'm a big fan of some of the adventure games they have on there, so if any of you want to check them out, I'll be glad.
Oh, and I'm not affiliated with the site in any way.

it's funny cuz many awesome (and still totally fresh) games of the 90s are already labelled as "old"/ "classic"
other than those 90s games (the usual suspects: Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, Resident Evil trilogy, Doom 1 and 2, Quake trilogy, Super Metroid, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Tomb Raider, etc) NO, I'm not a big fan of pre-90s classic games
many "classic" 80s games are hopelessly unplayable today, boring, ugly, not intuitive at all or dated in every way, or just plain repetitive (mostly 2D platform scrolling, or the beat-em-up shit)
I also recommend this site : CoolRom

Just sold my Sega Game Gear, Mega-CD, and a bunch of old games. Going to sell Nintendo Game & Watch handhelds soon. I love all this retro shit. I want to clear space and have some pocket money though.
Not quite old-school yet, but I get emotional about Final Fantasy VII and VIII. I dunno, those were just amazing to me and I really got caught up in them. The graphics during cut scenes seemed ahead of its time, just unreal, to me. I've played VII on PC through to completion with my wife twice during the 00s and probably will again in the future.

I like a lot of 8 bit videogames: Pacman, Mrs. Pacman, Asteroids, centepede, Galaga, etc.
But my favorite game is considered old now, and stupid ass Mac OS-X Lion (and after) can't run it anymore: Age of Mythology. But is by far my favorite game ever.

Once in a while I'll hook up my old ColecoVision or Atari 7800/2600 and rock the classics. Of course the graphics are crude compared to today, but the gameplay is solid. Zaxxon, Defender, Donkey Kong, Joust, Burgertime, Missle Command, Demon Attack, Turbo, Centipede, River Raid, Robotron, Berzerk, Pitfall, etc., etc. Good times! [Edited 2/27/13 18:12pm]

Welcome to getting old. The stuff you grew up in the 90's are now viewed as boring, lame, out of date to the young kids of today.

the difference is that I like 00s and post-00s videogames just as much as the 90s games
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Well..the majority of todays gaming is mostly 3rd person shooters. That's pretty boring, and lame
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
so?
in the 80s, the majority of gaming was mostly 2D platform shooters/jumping. That was pretty boring and lame
I stick to my guns. best era of videogames: 94-03 by far, especially 96-2000 (in terms of gameplay, variety, graphic revolution, etc)
only the graphics have improved since then

It took me months to beat Mike Tysons punchout(NES) when I was a kid. I beat the game this summer blindfolded. 2014-Year of the Parties
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I understand that but 12 year olds view the stuff you liked as a kid as old/classic
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Once again I'm only talking about how kids of today view things that are 20+ years old. They may even like it but still consider it old or classic.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
can we blame them for that?
hell, when I was 8, in 1993, 1973 looked like a whole different universe/era...
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It is what it is. When they get older the children of 2030 will also view the video games of today as old/classic.

virtual reality/completely wireless games?? God only knows...
anyway, Batman is amazing how you're still FRESH AND CURRENT even 80 years after your first adventures... [Edited 2/28/13 14:12pm]

That's funny in the 90's we thought video games of today would all be virtual reality games. [Edited 2/28/13 16:46pm]
