Let's add: If you wear Spanx and a good bra and a guy bitches about that, he ain't the man for you. Because this is the same man that will also bitch when you gain 10 pounds...or find somebody younger when your hair starts to go gray.
Meanwhile, he'll be sporting a pot belly, losing his own hair and choking down Viagra - while still thinking he's God's gift to the world. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

No kidding!
I really think there are some men who have no idea what women do to look the way they do and that the women we see on tv, movies and especially on magazine covers, well, no one "naturally" looks like that. When you consider wigs and weaves, air brush make-up, eyelash extensions, fake nails, push-up bras and panties and so on and THEN you move on to photoshop, these aren't pictures of real women we are seeing at all.
If a guy wants a girl who looks like she's on the cover of a magazine he better be prepared for ALL that comes with it. A little spanx is nothing. |

Reminds me of that quote from Cindy Crawford " Even I don't look like 'Cindy Crawford'!".

I have a class reunion this summer. I guaran-damn-tee you the women will look orders of magnitude better than the men (they always do) - and that they will have worked their asses off (literally) to get there.
One of the things I love most about Sweetie is that he really appreciates everything I do to look good (though he's more than a little appalled at what it all costs). And he makes an effort, himself. He takes a lot of care with shaving and keeping his hair neat, and his clothes are always on point. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I thought of you all today and this thread.
met a man for coffee at starbuck at 10am we had chatted plenty of times and i promise nothing, will only meet men during the day in a crowded place etc.
I had picked out my purple shirt to go with my black skirt and slingback black pumps. my purple shirt has a secret undershirt with a shapewear purpose. I put it on and thought about it. I stood in the mirror and took it off.
It seperates out when removed and looks awkward.
i went instead with my too big but still pretty black and while lycra jersey shirt.
He was worth the change in clothing.
If you are wearing shapewear only disrobe infront of those who have seen your real figure before.
