Why do people die in threes?

I never could figure that out-maybe it's one of the mysterious rules of the universe.

In my opinion, people do not die in three’s; people COUNT in three's.

People die one at a time, every moment of the day and night. By the time a fourth "known" person dies, instead of saying #4, people just start the count over at #1 (... as a #2 and #3 are always sure to soon follow at some point before long - at which time people start the count over at #1... again).

People dying amount to an infinite, progressive, ongoing, number (...as long as people continue to be born).

Sound logic.....say it ain't so.

But it does appear that celebs tend 2 die in 3 three's very close in time. (1 to 5 days)

From my experience, in 2011, four people have died in my family: my father, my sister's mother and sister-in-law, and my daughter's father.

They don't. That's a fallacious connection. People die every day. Deaths that never rate our attention. Celebrity deaths are widely reported and covered. If that individual weren't a celebrity they still may have died that day but most would never know or notice.

I've never heard this nonsensical thesis before and I'm glad I didn't. Because, well, it's nonsensical.

I don't think people "die in threes". I think it's what happens when prominent people die and I forget when the "die in threes" thing first generated but people have always said that whenever someone real famous dies within months, weeks, or even days.

People don't die in threes. They die individually.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
