Have you ever finished the movie the color purple

As much as I watched this movie I can never make it to the end , because I end up falling asleep or doing something else . Has anybody ever watched it from beginning to end?

Really? You miss this part every single time and you fall asleep? You're hard-hearted.

My original picture wouldn't post, dammit.

Suuuuuurrrrreeee. I'm tearing up right now just thinking about it. It's the cherry on top.

I can say it's a hard movie for me to watch continuously. And after Precious, I'm just burned out on watching folks being abused right now.

Yeah, I feel you.

You can always fast-forward and see what you missed, of course it does lose some of it's impact without context.

Are you kidding? Shucks, my family members and I can quote The Color Purple all day long. lol We've seen it so many times it crazy.

Now as far as "Precious", I never bothered to watch that movie. Folks personal reviews of it were enough for me, and usually I'm the type person to see movies for myself, but the horror involved in that movie, no thanks.

I did see "For Colored Girls" one time, and that one time was enough. lol

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

numerous times. it's one of my favorite books of all time (#3) and one of my favorite movies of all time too (top 5 or 10). i have probably seen the movie 10 times, and i cry every damn time

precious was great, but i will never watch it again. too disturbing for me.

colored girls was a pile of shit, expecially since i know the play (or "choreo-poem") well.

This is one of the movies that I now avoid because having a good cry would not be a good thing.

I've never owned the movie, only watching it on tv. I have never seen it from beginning to end. I've seen the end many times, but not the beginning.

I feel ashamed a little , i can watch beloved and not color purple. As for precious , I have seen it that's a raw movie and for colored girls it's very disturbing.

I's married now.

You sho is ugly.

Tell that thang to come up here and fix me something to eat.

Next time I'll put a little Suge Avery pee in his water and see how he like that.

How did he die? On top of me.

What am I gonna do with her? Beat her.

You told Harpo to beat me!

You ain't fit to be nothing but Suge's maid. Maybe she can sweep out the caboose.

Everything you done did to me, already done to you.

Until you do right by me, everything you do gonna fail.

I'm poor, I'm black, and I may even be ugly. But I'm here.

These pictures don't look anything like me. Damn him!

Lol that is what I'm talking about that is how it is in my family, down to braiding my hair as a young Ceily....

All my life I had to fight
I had to fight my daddy
I had to fight my uncles
I had to fighter my brother
Girl a child aint safe in a family of men's
I never thought I'd have to fight in my own house
I loves Harpo
God knows I do
BUT I KILL HIM DEAD BEFORE I LET HIM BEAT ME!

I have thrown my hands up like Whoopie and quoted the " everything you have done to me , I have already done to you"....that usually freaks folks out cuz my family is from New Orleans

lol lol lol

While watching a movie about a black woman's struggles in the early 1900's wouldn't have mass appeal, I hope that if you have never seen the movie or have never managed to get all the way thru it, I would strongly advise you give it a try. I very seldom brag about dramas but it is simply a brilliant movie. It's not only Miss Celie's story, it's that story of a lot of black people. Tina Turner was one of several singers offerred the role of Shug Avery. She turned it down, saying she didn't have to play that part, she has already lived it. biggrin
