Yours are mine, except I think Django could win for original screenplay.

But we'll see.

I predict that I won't watch it, nor will I have seen any movies that win anything.

But, I would like to watch "Argo" at some point.

My predictions:

Best Picture: Argo

Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln)

Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook)

Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained)

Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables)

Best Director: Steven Spielberg (Lincoln)

Best Original Screenplay: Zero Dark Thirty

Best Adapted Screenplay: Lincoln

Best Foreign Film: Amour

Best Animated Film: Brave

Best Original Song: Skyfall (Skyfall; Adele, songwriter)

A couple of notes: I saw both Zero Dartk Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook, and while I tried my hardest to blot out of my mind that Jessica Chastain was my high school girlfriend all grown up (she's not; she's about ten years younger than me and my high school girlfriend), she did give a great performance in ZDT. Having said that, Jennifer Lawrence gave a much better perfomance with far more range as a messed up young widow trying to piece her life back together.

Second, I think Steven Spielberg is the closest thing to a lock for winning best director, though David O. Russell could be the dark horse candidate. But the person who should have been nominated for this award this year and therefore should have won was Ben Affleck, who directed a great film in Argo.

I would like to see Argo win for best picture and Ang Lee for best Director.

Other than that, I'm sure it will play out the way cborgman has described.

I can't wait to see the dresses and the men in their tuxedos.

What about supporting Quvenzhane Wallis? She is ONLY 5 years old and the youngest actress nominated, never mind being black.

What??? Babygirl can get no love? Only black with dicks get your attention?

this year is his sixth nomination.

if he wins, it will be his third oscar, which would tie him with nicholson for most oscars won by a male actor. he would also then (along with meryl streep and nicholson) be one oscar behind katherine hepburn, who holds the record with 4.

cborgman -- I think your predictions are right there. I'd only change the supporting actor pick to De Niro, for no real reason, just a hunch.

It looks like its going to be pretty predictable this year.

Im just hoping for an Adele, Shirley Bassey and a SUPRISE Tina Turner all coming together doing a Bond number.

i could see de niro getting it.

the supporting actor category really didnt do it for me this year. it's de niro, jones, and alda turning in the same performances they always do, and hoffman playing an interesting headcase, and waltz, who just won last year.

i love tony kushner for "angels in america" which is... relentlessly brilliant.

but i really didnt love the lincoln script. it just felt like a long wikipedia entry.

brave will probably win, though i loved "pirates" way more.

i dont see waltz winning, as only 5 actors or actresses in the history of the oscars have pulled out back-to-back wins.

as much as i adore waltz's performance, it really should have been samuel jackson or leonardo di caprio nominated.

i absolutely agree that affleck should have been nominated and won. i really hate that they expanded the best pictures to up to ten, but not the directors. i really feel like the director should win the best picture oscar, not the producers. either that, or pick 10 director nominees to go with the 10 pictures. tarantino and katherine bigalow were also robbed this way

The dark horse IMO is Waltz. The Academy seems to like giving in bunches.

Argo for best picture. I've only seen two of the ten in the best picture, so I can't really judge. Totally lame the Academy did not nominate Ben Affleck for Best Director.

That show bores most people.... don't blame your blackness on that.

You need and award show for action movies. Arnold, Sylvester, Bruce, etc...

This year I've seen every movie nominated in every category except for five (Mirror Mirror, The Invisible War and three of the five foreign film nominations), but I'm out of the country this weekend and will most likely not even see the awards. confused
