Germany kicks our ass again with indoor resort! Why go to the islands when you can stay in Germany, in the dead of winter and lay under a palm tree. You can now with the first indoor resort:

America needs to do this. This is how we create jobs, not casinos. Then people wouldn't leave and take cruises where they end up smelling like poop. All you others say Hell Yea!!

What's the point of a beach when there's no sun???

It's artificially created.
Water and sauna culture is really big here, first, for health benefits, but also to provide people an inexpensive way to combat Seasonal Affective Disorder and the GreySky Blues, which is a fact of life here (especially in the Nordic part of the country). I've been to a many of the water spas here, and quite a few of them have areas inside that are meant to duplicate or give the feeling that you are in a sunny or tropical clime. It's a bit of alright actually, especially when it's 20° outside, raining cats & dogs daily, and the sun can take up to weeks to shine for just a couple hours during one day.
I haven't been to this particular resort they're talking about, but I do enjoy water spas that have relaxation areas that mimic a tropical or beach environment. They are incredibly de-stressing and a great way to spend a day off re-charging your batteries if you don't have the time or $$$ to hop over to the South of Spain or Italy. We have great beaches and coastline here in Northern Germany, but, unfortunately due to the weather, there is normally just a very short window of opportunity in the summer to enjoy it. It's a pity, because when it is above 72°F and the sun is out, life at the seaside here can be wonderful:
So, necessity being the mother of invention..someone came up with the idea that if people can't get out of the country to the beaches (during the 9 months of grey rainy/snowy skies) , then they would bring the beaches to the people. Germans are just practical problem solvers that way.

Pretty cool.
Actually those have been around for awhile.
A few years ago there was one in Russia that collapsed under the weight of the snow that had accumulated on top. Can you even imagine? Being in your bathing suit in warm water one minute, buried under snow the next?
What about the OPPOSITE of this?
