I got the impression that End of Watch was trying to give a realistic portrayal of LA cops and LA gang bangers. It seems like they were trying to show that in reality a lot of LA cops have the same 'gang' mentality as the bangers do.
As far as the gangsters in the movie. Most of them were former gang members, turned actors so that seemed to add more realism to the movie. Also i thought the scenes with the border brothers and other Mexican narco traffickers were interesting. I got the impression that they were trying to show that all the violence and organised drug trafficking that goes on in Mexico is now starting to spill over into America and that the US government was trying to hide the severity of it.
The only parts i kinda thought were too 'hollywood' were the apartment complex shoot out and the alley shooting at the end. It wasn't that the cops got shot by gang bangers, it was the mistakes (by the cops) that led up to the shooting. To me those parts weren't all that believable.
Overall it seems they were trying to go for a more documentary type feeling rather than a movie type feeling.

Pirates Of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)
About as I thought. Terrible.
1/2
Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
Won't age well, but funny, at times poignant, and stellar performances by Bradley Cooper (the best performance in the movie) and Jennifer Lawrence. I will never listen to "My Cherie Amour" the same way again.

2010 - I liked 2001 a lot better and i don't see myself ever going back to revisit that one. Who'd of thought with more dialogue and more interaction less would be said. Maybe I'll do the books perhaps not the whole monolith thing was interesting but I think views have shifted too much.

End of Watch sucked. The apartment complex was handled totally wrong. No way they would survive that they way the supposedly did. Same thing in the alley. Mistakes as dramatic license. Well that was throughout the movie. The stop where they find the gold plated AK. No probable cause to stop, detain or search. When the Feds show up at the stash/drug house, none of the Feds follow up on a police warrant to squash it? That's why the police would have been there right? Pursuant to a subpoena? Subpoena is still active as the subject presumably hasn't been caught. He was not in police custody. Nice to see such complications disappear. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Olympus Has Fallen
Apparently it took common sense with it. Opening setup is never explained or resolved although it is intended to color the entire movie. When did Secret Service agents become so utterly stupid and ignorant? Not to mention to massive intelligence failure it takes to set the premise in motion. One that just wouldn't happen. I won't give it away, but say it required repeatedly ignoring protocol. Protocol that exists to prevent the scenario depicted. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I did not expect much from this one (when did Nick Cage become a complete joke) and it did not disappoint. The poster pretty much says it all "12 hours, $10 million, 1 kidnapped daughter." His "ingenius" solution to his dilemma is just lazy storytelling.
Still, I sat through it. 2 & 1/2 out of 5 My Legacy

Hatfields & McCoys (2012) 4/5 Wow. Through most of it all I could say was damn. I realize they embellished the story a bit and some parts were corny but still I got completely engrossed.

Marvel's The Avengers (2012 - 5 stars) - I grew up on Marvel comics during the 60s/70s. This movie was a dream come true. It gets better every time I watch it. Right up there with 'The Dark Knight' as the best superhero movies ever.
Can't wait to see Thanos in Avengers 2. [Edited 3/31/13 8:56am]

Rust and Bone
4.5/5 The scene with her in front of the tank with the killer whale made me cry, and the ending I was holding my breathe. Her walk was awesome. Put in charge of his young son, Alain leaves Belgium for Antibes to live with his sister and her husband as a family. Alain's bond with Stephanie, a killer whale trainer, grows deeper after Stephanie suffers a horrible accident. [Edited 3/31/13 10:13am]

I watched "Flicka" the other day. Good movie, BUT IT HAD THE MOST AWESOME LINE EVER RECORDED IN A MOVIE.
OK, to set it up: Flicka is a wild horse, and is the object of some young girl's obsession (we'l call her Renegade Cowgirl because she is a renegade cowgirl). Because of course, a Renegade Cowgirl is the only girl in the world that can tame the wildest mustang on the planet.
And she does! At least, she makes it to the local rodeo, where she dresses up like a boy and enters the Wild Horse Race. She jumps on Flicka, who goes nuts and rampages out of the arena, even though her dad is running all through the arena, trying to catch her.
Suddenly, it's not daytime - it's night time. And The Mother Of All Thunderstorms has struck, while Flicka and Renegade Cowgirl are somewhere in the wilderness. To make it perfect, they are attacked by a mountain lion! Are you with me so far?
Yeah, I know but trust me this is worth it!
Flicka is able to fend off/kill the mountain lion but is mortally wounded. Renegade Cowgirl somehow immediately catches Bubonic Plague or Yellow Fever or Malarai, so she and Flicka both pass out in the rain. But she is found!
They take Renegade Cowgirl back to the ranch, where she has a 102-degree fever. The country boys (of course there are country boys!) tell Tim McGraw (of course Tim McGraw is the rancher and is also Renegade Cowgirl's dad!) that Flicka is hurt too bad, and must be shot. So Tim McGraw says he'll do it. At this point Renegade Cowgirl magically rises from her bed and is seen at the top of the stairs.
It's here that she utters THE MOST AWESOME LINE EVER RECORDED IN A MOVIE:
"It's OK. You can shoot us."
AWESOME.
You should definitely watch this movie all the way through just so you can hear that line at the very end.

I think I would give it higher ratings if I knew the background on the characters, but I still enjoyed it and I will definitely be checking out the first one asap She Don't Speak..But She Remembers

World without End 2.5/5 The overall story was okay, but it got tiresome for every single scene to show women being abused, misused or bad-mouthed, unless your the Queen of course. We get it women had it rough back then and the aristocracy were assholes.
Then to watch every single plan by the good guys get demolished by the bad guys. But hey, the bad guys get theirs in the end, they die...uh, everybody dies, a whole lot good people died, horribly too. So how did the bad guys suffer for being bad again?
It got to a point it didn't even make sense why the heroine even stayed in the town, she had so much bad luck, she had no family left why not leave, in fact it didn't even make sense that she immediately and openly took up the profession she saw her best friend get hung for.

Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011)
Well acted, though Elizabeth Olsen got a little "Janie One Note" towards the end. John Hawkes is nothing short of amazing (if ever the Batman franchise needed a new Joker it need look no further). Ending is a tribute to The Long Good Friday.
