I heard the same😔 which is a shame cause I actually like all 4 of the original DIe Hard movies. Part 2 was my least favorite but it was still a goods movie. But once you enter part 5 it's hard to stay great IMO.

Damn, as much as I love Bruce as John McClane, I'm going to have to pass on this one. Even going by the commercials, it seems this one will suck just like the last one did. My favorite ones are the first one and the third one with Sam Jackson. No other villians in the sequels can even top Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber from the original movie...NONE OF THEM. nod

part 4 was great in my opinion, best DH sequel by far, the jet place scene was silly, but that's about it, the rest was solid

it seems that the critics are thrashing part 5 for the same reasons they gave a cold reception to part 3 all these years ago: implausible plot and over-the-top sequences

With the turn around time from movie to DVD shorter than ever, I would wait for the DVD even it if were a 4 star movie...

It sucks, no doubt. My problem is that it's too unrealistic. John and his son crash through buildings, fall 70ft, crash cars, etc, and get up and walk away. I know it's just a movie, but really. eek

The best thing about it is the actions scenes which tend to drag out and get boring, because of the poor script and acting.

Oh really? i thought Die Hard 2 was the one critics were mixed on.

I LOVE part 3 it's one of the more over the top entries but it's fun as hell. And it's not so over the top that it makes you frustrated like with Rambo III evillol

I don't know...if what Joe is saying is correct about Die Hard III being the one with mixed reviews, it would make sense because that's the first installment of the series where John has a "sidekick"..which was Sam Jackson. Personally, I loved the movie because they had great chemistry, both were funny as hell, the only thing that irked me was the constant white man vs. black man debate...often brought up by Sam Jackson's character, but nonetheless, it was still a good movie.

^^ well, according to RottenTomatoes, parts 5 and 3 are the only ones with a "rotten" rating

I remember back in the day people complaining about Samuel L. Jackson being a smartass sidekick and the rushed ending in Canada...

hmmm I didn't think the ending was rushed...more like drawn out. lol I never thought there was a need for John McClane to have a "side kick" but IMO Samuel L. Jackson wasn't bad at all. He wasn't trying to be an "action" star (like he was trying to be in that awful remake of "Shaft"). Even though Bruce can be quite comical at times, with Sam in there, I sort of looked at DH3 as more of a comedy than an action movie. lol

then, despite the fact that I'd be dead,
it still will be a good day.
