Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome Pilot

.
January 26, 2013
.
The pilot for the Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome TV series, which was rejected in 2012 by the SyFy Network last February, will at last get an airdate..
.
The Syfy Network has scheduled the pilot on Sunday, February 10th 8pm to 10pm (ET, PT).
.
The pilot has been seen—it was shown as a weekly series on the Machinima Prime YouTube channel.
.
The version that will be aired on Syfy will include scenes that were not included in the online showings. The pilot movie will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and VOD on February 19th.
Blood and Chrome is set during the First Cylon War and follows the adventures of the young William Adamo (Luke Pasqualino). David Eick, who produced the award-winning BSG revival, was the executive producer of Blood and Chrome.

Aired online a few months ago, although edited down somewhat.

My friends brother scored the music for this, as well as Caprica and Battlestar before it.

I watched the first two video uploads, but then decided i'd wait to get the Blu Ray and watch it as the makers originally intended.

If you're interested in a backstory about the creation of the Cylons, you should pickup the DVD.

Fortuitously, 5 episodes are still online.

I mostly agree, though I probably will find a way to watch this at some point. I never saw Caprica - I suppose if I ever found a discounted dvd set I might pick it up just for the sake of having it. I thought the first two seasons of BG were mosltly great, the third & fourth were fairly wobbly but were still good & absolutely worth watching, but it ended on a very, very sour note for me.

I liked the beginnings of Battlestar Galatica, it got a little too weird towards the end for me. I could never get into Caprica. Maybe I'll catch this.

Sorry but Starbuck being a ghost or an angel or whatever the fuck she was, was too much to swallow. Honeslty the ending was written by a 5 year old that had no fucking clue what to do. Moore is a hack.

I had no problem with the ending (other than the cheesy robot "video" set to "All Along the Watchtower"), but I know tons of folks couldnt stand it.

How would you have ended it/explained what was going on with Starbuck? Just curious...

Don't kill off Starbuck, or if you do don't bring her back to life without some sort of reasonable explaination. Her endind arc was just stupid and ruined what was a show that prided itself on its intelligence and smart writing.

Its been a few years since Ive watched the show, so my memory isnt as clear, but honestly I think they should have ended it when they found their earth, and not ours.

The real Starbuck crashed on that planet and had a Cylon as a friend for awhile.

I just wouldn't have done it - don't kill one of your major characters and then make them a ghost. You grant these shows some things, allow them a few contrivances, but that was a tipping point for me. Other people could go with it, & we're allowed to be different, but that was a complete show-stopper in my world.

And the other massive problem for me was that the basic premise of the show turned out to be that we should just throw away our technology because it's corrupting us and leading to our destruction (all has happened before and all will happen again), and that we should return to nature and live a luddite fantasy life. I'm a bit of a fan of science and technology & think it deserves most of the credit for the generally outstanding levels of comfort most of us enjoy, and frankly I thought that message was ... not too good.

Not to take it too seriously (just a show, I know), but if that's the message that Moore wanted to leave us with after four seasons, then I'd say he should get lost.

Interesting. I didn't see it as anti-technology, just something that just repeats throughout the universe, a type of universal order, a weird one, but a constant one. That I got, that I liked. It was the blurring of who was suppose to be what got too confusing and just plain random. It stopped making any sense for a story.

Okay, I get it...and I agree. I remember watching the episode when they killed Starbuck and thinking, "Of course she's coming back!" I had no problem with the ending of the show, seeing as they kind of had to make her a ghost to explain her return, but yeah...they never should have killed her.

I loved that show SO MUCH that I kind of overlooked certain things and just took it as they gave it to us. Hell...I still miss it!

As for Caprica...I thought the pilot episode was awesome. Then the series started and they took WAAAAY too long to get to the meat and potatoes of the story. I still watched every episode and really liked some of the things they did, but was not at all surprised when it got axed.

Here's hoping "Blood and Chrome" fares better.

Well, if you look at the final minutes of the show where Apollo makes his speech about how science has raced ahead of our souls (or words to that effect), convinces everyone to unload all technology and live as farmers or hunter/gathers, then add to that the final shots of all that sinister modern technology, I think that the writers were trying to say that science & technology corrupt us and lead to war and destruction. And I just don’t think that’s right. I actually think the exact opposite is true, and at the least I'd say the topic is more complicated and nuanced than that sledgehammer approach suggested...but that’s a big topic for another time.

I can't wait to see this on Sunday. The DVD also comes bundled with

The two things I mentioned were show-stoppers for me, but I'm not out to put a damper on anyone's enjoyment of the show. We're allowed to be different.

The ending still makes me laugh. Okay everyone lets throw all of our tech away split up into small family units and seperate from each other. That wont make us easy picking from large meat eating animals.

I thought about, and maybe. I know a lot of things talk about our technology out pacing our maturity, I don't take it as anti-technology, just that we should depend on our technology. I might have to see it again, but right now I'm not in the mood for it. I just felt it was trying feebly to make a deeply profound statement and I just wasn't that blown away by it.
