So i have been learning Thai for the past few years and for thepast few months on my lunch breaks at work i have been working on writing Thai characters.

And since i got my iphone few week's ago i am taking advantage of the thai Alphabet being on my phone

So i have a question!

Did i do these right?

First one i am trying to say ''Do you speak english''

Second one i am trying to say ''How Are You?''

You're saying it correctly. In thai to make any statement a question you end it with Can no. Similar to the French n'est pas?

For your second statement, you're saying sabai dee

Which translates to " Feel Good " or "Am feeling good", but you didn't include a subject.

This means that the implied subject will either be yourself or someone else depending

on the context of the situation (in Thai you don't really have to say the subject if it is

known or implied regardless of the person the subject refers to ).

To clarify, you can say: Pom Sabai dee ( I am good )

Or Khun Sabai Dee, Mai Krup? ( you feel good, no ? )

Fauxie can probably explain it alot better than me. He's further along than I am in Thai.

I can read it though. Just don't always know what I'm reading.

I have absolutely no sympathy for Thai people who are offended by this video.

And I don't sympathize with those who were offended by Hangover II's depiction

of Bangkok.

There were tons of Thais who were really angry that Hangover II made bangkok

look 'dirty' and polluted. Well, Bangkok is dirty and polluted.

Instead of large concerted efforts to clean up the pollution, the cover it up with

slick commercials that reveal NONE of the truth about the condition of the city.

New cars drive through presinte streets, people live in big spacious modern houses,

etc. in these vids.

Thailand is a country of surface level appearances meaning EVERYTHING, and

integrity meaning very little. I couldn't fathom what you would every want in

a Thai 'partner' but let me warn you now--- politeness is not the same thing as

sincerity.

That being said, Thailand is fileld with wonderful peope despite. Much much less

cynical and bitter than the west.

They hypernationalismis their achieles heal in the sense that they are easily offended

when 'brand Thailand' is damanged....they just think the solution is to not say

anything about it rather than fixing it.
