It's Awards Season: Pick an Event and What You Wanna Wear! This is the time of year when Tv and the Net goes all abuzz with red carpet fashion in film, tv, music, and charity galas. If you could pick an event to attend, which one would you choose, and what would be your dream outfit for the ceremony or After Party? Choose any event you want: SAG, Emmys, Oscars, Grammy, NAACP, ALMAs..or the funkier pre- and after parties that usually accompany them.
The org has some pretty creative people here, so this should be good to see how people would style themselves! if you can't think of a full outfit, then just dredge up a cool shoe or other accessories & details for a look that would be uniquely you!
I'm not even sure which after party I would wear this to, but this cocktail dress is calling my name, I need it to be knee length though so it feels more 60's to me:

I love this time of year!
Hmmmm, I'd go to the Golden Globes or SAG awards...or maybe the BAFTA awards so I could go to England. Don't know what I'd wear though. Gotta think about it.

Probably the Grammy's and I would wear the white outfit with really high heels and my hair down.

I have been itching to make this Vintage Vogue dress. I'm not sure it's dressy enough for an awards show, but it would be awesome for the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival...

Funny Face! Amazing clothes in that movie. My personal favorite was the Givenchy wedding dress...

Mine too. If I ever get married, a replica of that dress is my plan. |

Y'know...I always thought the overskirt of that dress was tulle. But looking at some of the photos online, I think it's probably silk organza over taffeta.
When my sister got married, she wanted a replica of that dress, too. So my mom set about making one. And then...my sister proceeded to change everything about it. Short sleeves instead of cap, long instead of ballet length, lace bodice instead of taffeta. I mean...the dress was pretty...but it was not the Funny Face dress. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The only thing I'd do is not have the waist drop quite so much. I don't have the tiny waist she does so I'll make sure it's starts to "puff" out at the most flattering location. And I might take it up to tea length. Might. hmmm...
But yeah, mess with too much and it's no longer that dress! |

A drop waist is tough unless you plan on wearing a corset - and sometimes, even then. I used to be able to wear one, but I just don't have a wasp waist anymore. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

To the Oscars I'd wear...
* Peak-lapel tux with grosgain facing (better fitted than the one above), but mine would be one-button, single breasted * Band-collar shirt w/ covered buttons, no tie and understated fabric cufflinks * White linen pocket square (worn somewhat less douchey than above ) * A nice tux loafer, but probably not patent leather
...And for a bit of irreverence, I might do a sock out of left field -- maybe green or purple. [Edited 2/8/13 6:59am] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I love it. And the wrap for it is so beautiful too. ...We'd only need someone to walk behind us with a broom. Lol.

My guy could care less about fashion, but is slender and wears slim cut Japanese and Italian garments extraordinarily well. He's kind of Steve McQueenish in his looks (especially in those lips  ) and wears those chic-spy-dandy-clothes amazingly. I could see him chilling at the SAGs in a slim cut Steve MacQueen black suit ( since men don't have to do black tie at the SAGs) having his brandy at the table, and, if we were in the times from waaaay back, puffing on a cigarette:
