2001: Space Odessy neutral I tried, I really tried. The first time I watched it I keep dozing off. The 2nd time I watched it I ended up messing around in the kitchen. Watched it a 3rd time to fill in the gaps, rewinding it several time because I wasn't looking at the screen and then I would realize there was actual dialogue I was missing. I thought I had seen it before when I was a kid but I see now it was the 2010 one with the new Sun at the end. It too dated for me to sit so long with very little talking taking place and everything moving so slow, and omg the 4th segment traveling through the monolith, I don't see how anyone can sit through that without fast forwarding it, I couldn't sit through all that even if I were high. Loved the music though. I still don't get why evolution is marked by the act of killing, first by the beginnings of man, and then by a machine. Plus, seeing the common ancestor more like a chimp, so outdated, but the actors who portrayed them were excellent in their movements.

I can see how it was innovative for it's time, though. It captured the imagination of the possibilities.

Zero Dark 30

3 stars

Not as good as the Hurt Locker. It keep me interested, but it took nearly two hours before they finally showed the raid on Osama Bin Laden's compound. I must admit, when they were showing that, I was thinking, "Kill that Motherfucker!"

Wreck it Ralph. 3/5. Very cute.

Anna Karenina. 3/5. Only after the second watching, I was too sleepy the first time to understand the concept of how it was filmed it just confused the hell out of me and I feel asleep. Got into it the second time around.

Zero Dark Thirty 3/5 complicated.

5/5

Powerful and disturbing documentary detailing the epidemic of sexual abuse against women (and men) that is prevelant in the U.S. military. Over 19,000 reports of rape and sexual abuse yearly and those are just the ones that are reported! Should be required viewing for any woman considering joining any branch of the US military.

5/5 what a masterpiece eek And to think I avoided watching it during years cuz I generally dislike "mystery thrillers", but damn, this one is something special, insane twist near the end, guaranteed second viewing...

Oz The Great and Powerful.

Do you ever wish you could unsee something? I do.

Two pluses tho: the scenery was in it was beautiful and James Franco drool. I'd give it two stars just for him. mushy

Fish Tank - I'd give this movie a B+. It was bleak and hopeless, but the main character's tough spirit keeps it from being completely depressing. At the end I feel like, despite all the crap she goes thorugh, she'll turn out okay. Somehow. Oh, and Michael Fassbender is 10 kinds of sexy..

If you will, so will I

Olympus Has Fallen - This is not the movie I wanted to see on Saturday, but a coin was flipped and I lost, so we saw this...It was definitely action packed, but also unintentionally funny too (good thing? bad thing?). There was a few far-fetched things too, but I'm not one to over-analyze that kind of stuff. Would give it a C.

If you will, so will I

Oz: the Great and Powerful

Really enjoyed it. Beautiful visuals. Old-timey and charming. I love Michelle Williams. Still not sure about Mila Kunis as the wicked witch. She's a bit overrated in films so far. IMO Her best role to date is Meg on Family Guy. lol James Franco doesn't do a thing for me, but I enjoyed him in this.

3.5 out of 5 star

LOVED it. The sweetest movie I think I've seen about sex. lol Had Helen Hunt won the Oscar over Anne Hathaway (whom I loved in Les Miz) I wouldn't be mad. Brave, honest, not-over-acted performance. Shame there didn't seem to be room on the ballot for John Hawkes.

4.5 out of 5 star

YES! An awesome lesson on how EVERYONE can be an art collector. It is not just for folk of certain means. 4.5 star out of 5

My favorite part of this film was the long sequences of nothing but painting. mushy

4 star out of 5

Watched it again. Simply I never connected emotionally, it was a lot of events taking place on the screen, interesting as a current events/history lesson but that was about it for me, even when she cried at the end, it made logical sense for her to do it and I understood it even expected it but I didn't feel it.

The average score from critics for Zero Dark Thirty on Metacritic.com is a whopping 4.75/5 (95/100) so if you don't agree with that rating then you think it's overrated, right? smile

That's not unusual. There have been movies folks have raved about that I didn't enjoy at all and don't understand what the big hoopla was about, at least with this one I get what the big deal was it just didn't resonate with me to a high degree, so no I'm not going to say I think it was overrated.

Well, I gave it a 4.5/5 so I think it's slightly overrated. lol I liked The Hurt Locker more. That one gets a 5/5.

Whatever Works (2009, Woody Allen)

Great movie. Made me laugh and smile a lot. I really love Woody Allen´s more recent movies. I know many people don´t but I like them just as much as I like his old movies.

This one is really brilliant.

Watched it two times!

Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942)

9.2/10

Almost perfect movie except for that very short blackface vaudeville act early in the film. One of the AFI top 100s I hadn't seen yet.
