Mon Oncle (1958) - Monsieur Hulot visits the technology-driven world of his sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, but he can't quite fit into the surroundings.

The choreography in this film is pretty amazing when looking at how well the visual gags work with so many people on the screen at the same time. star star star 1/2

Lawless (2012) - Decent movie, cinematography, & lots of violence, but I'm just not a fan of Shia Labouf as an actor. Screenplay by Nick Cave!

Bullet to the Head- 1/5 Stars... One of the lamest movies I've ever seen. Stallone has the acting chops of a piece of plywood these days and this felt like it had no plot... My bestfriend an I went strictly because Jason Momoa is in it, and he is beautiful and perfect.

excited

Is he in it enough to tolerate the rest of it?

lol To us, he was; but I'd advise you to save your money for a better movie and just look up interviews with him on youtube instead drool

If you will, so will I

The Descendants (2011)

The film deserved the Oscar nods and Oscar last year. Clooney was superb, and Shailene Woodley was impressive. Beau Bridges was almost chilling, and proved he needs to be in more films.

I loved this movie! The book was excellent too. I may have enjoyed it more so because of where it was filmed. I love Kauai. Have been there 3 times. It's heaven on earth. Clooney is a good actor and I think we will see even better movies from him as he gets older.

Playtime (1967) - Monsieur Hulot has to contact an American official in Paris, but he gets lost in the maze of modern architecture which is filled with the latest technical gadgets.

I hardly ever go to the movies, so it is hard for me to rate movies. I watched Lincoln a few days ago (we are late here in Austria lol) and it was pretty good IMO. No idea how historically accurate it is though.

I'd rate it a 7 out of 10, the plot was great but they should have added something to spice it up. It needed more action.

Hawaii almost stole the show. It was potrayed realistically, beyond the beachfronts and waterfalls. Really cool.

Bug 2/5 - Didn't care for this when I saw it at the time of release, but thought it should be revisited since I really liked Killer Joe (same writer and director combo) - I still don't like it much.

Kill Your Idols - 2/5 documentary on the New York No Wave music scene. Unfocused, with too much time spent on newer acts and on older acts complaining the new acts are poseurs.

Way too long, snooze-fest. Ugh. And Tarantino always does the same movie every time.

2/10 (at best)

The Killer Inside Me (2010)

Simply collapses, despite a promising start. Casey Affleck was really good, as was Simon Baker. Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba were given one-dimensional roles.

I thought this was overrated, too. Its saving grace is Sharlto Copley's likeability.

Absolutely.

Think about it. Extraterrestrial beings sequestered in a concentration camp with them trated as livestock.

This bumbling idiot inadvertently bridges the gap between the races as a result of his "misfortune".

I don't remember details, but I did think it was good.

I watched this movie for he second time the other night - the first third of this film is pure comedy, I laugh so hard at the idiotic lead character and the whole situation with how the prawns just like rip people apart when they get mad lol

My Week With Marilyn (2011)

Really good movie. Michelle Williams was nothing short of amazing, the way she transformed into Marilyn Monroe, and to a person, the cast wonderfully portrayed the sense of awe people must have had being around her. Kenneth Branagh was especially superb, and though I've seen Eddie Redmayne in other things, he's never been better.

We Have A Pope (2011)

Light at times, often poignant, deals with the crushing burden of being in the office, and suggests maybe no one really wants it. A comedy with a startling ending.

starstar .75

Night Catches Us (2010)

Kerry Washington, Anthony Mackie, and cast really shine in a great movie about a former Panther returning to his old neighborhood in the 1970's. Catch it if you can.

The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989)

Good performances by the Brothers Bridges and Michelle Pfeiffer wasted by plodding, uneven script. The musical numbers and chemistry between Pfeiffer and J. Bridges salvage the flick somewhat.

Just watched The Shawshank Redemption - great movie.

I saw it many years ago, but watched it again the other night. Morgan and Tim were amazing. I love the story.
