Long train rides to and from Michigan so I watched: Seven Psychopaths - violent but I loved it. 3/4 stars. Killer Elite - meh but it had Jason Statham so 2/4 stars. Flight - wtf? Terrible movie.i can't believe Denzel got an Oscar mom for this bullshit. 0/4 stars. Beasts of the Southern Wild - one of te most amazing movies I've ever seen. 4/4 stars.

I wasn't impressed with 'Seven Psychopaths.'

Killer Elite - Typical Statham.

Flight - very good. Surprised at your reaction. It's not best picture, but it was good.

Beasts of the Southern Wild - very good.

Side story in Flight was useless. I was cheering against Denzel the whole time. It was predictable and it was very hard to suspend disbelief with this movie.

Beasts of the Southern Wild: I just lost myself in that movie.

The Pirates! Band of Misfits (2012) - Pirate Captain sets out on a mission to defeat his rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz for the Pirate of the year Award. The quest takes Captain and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London.

I had no idea I would like this as much as i did. It's my favorite of the five movies nominated for best animated feature for the Oscars this year. star star star star

Searching for Sugar Man (2012) - Two South Africans set out to discover what happened to their unlikely musical hero, the mysterious 1970s rock 'n' roller, Rodriguez.

What a fantastic story. The music was amazing as well. star star star star 1/2

I completely agree. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen.

He has so many reasons to be bitter and cynical, yet has the profound wisdom in the moment to understand that things wouldn't necessarily be better had he become a superstar. And he lives in a dilapidated home in downtown Detroit.

He comes across as far richer to me than almost anyone who lives with great wealth.

After experiencing/feeling his great music throughout this film, I definitely will be checking it out. Hopefully this documentary will open things up financially for him at home. Though I'm sure he'll give most of the money away anyway, it would be nice to see some of the just reward finally finding respite in a better place.

Ted (2012) - As the result of a childhood wish, John Bennett's teddy bear, Ted, came to life and has been by John's side ever since - a friendship that's tested when Lori, John's girlfriend of four years, wants more from their relationship.

I admit it was funny--in an irreverent Seth MacFarlane kind of way of course. star star star

Really enjoyed this, though after having seen the stage productions many times, there a couple of singers whose voices didn't really come up to what they should be.

Liked this too, think I will have to go back and see it in 3D next time though.

Rather curious that the orginal director Guillermo del Toro is still attached as a writer and creative director.

This could have almost been a Tarantino flick, but it was quite done, and could lead to a sequel, noticed also that Will Ferrell was a producer

Flight 3/5
First 1/4 of the movie was awesome!
Loved the flying. I wasn't so crazy about it being an alcoholism cautionary tale with bad guy redeemed. HATED John Goodman being the comic relief wtf! Apart from him it was a pretty serious movie. Don Cheadle mushy he can't do any wrong in my eyes, I live for his worried face lol

I really hard the Nicole sub-plot, that actress is annoying

So to sum up,
More flying and less crying.
I'm the mistake you wanna make

I’ll definitely watch the 5hr version at some point, though I probably won’t go back to it until later this year. I blind-bought the multi-disc criterion thingy, so it’s all there waiting for me.

And to give credit where credit is due, it was the recommendation that came from both of you some time ago that prompted me to pick up the movie, so thank you for that.

I attended school in Pittsburgh in the early 90s and had discovered The Smiths through classmates during that time also so this movie was very special to me.

Robot & Frank 2.5/5 I wasn't charmed as much as I thought I would have been. It's a good movie and had some bittersweet moments. I guess dementia is just too sad of a subject matter for me, to appreciate this.

Prometheus (2012): A decent, suspenseful, science fiction flickl. More screen time for Theron and Fassbender would have helped. Disjointed at times.

Mona Lisa (1986): Good early Neil Jordan movie, with a good cast Bob Hoskins, Robblie Coltrane and the beautiful Cathy Tyson was really good. Nice turn by Michael Caine, who had a great year that year.

Actually I changed my mind, I'll give it an extra half a star because its set in Moscow and after seeing all the footage from the meteor blast this week, all the blown out windows in this film and street scenes looked eerily realistic.

Céline and Julie Go Boating (Céline et Julie vont en bateau) - 4/5 Stars... I have not been so entranced by a movie in a while. It was a delight to watch and definitely did not feel like it was over 3 hours.

Bullet to the Head- 1/5 Stars... One of the lamest movies I've ever seen. Stallone has the acting chops of a piece of plywood these days and this felt like it had no plot... My bestfriend an I went strictly because Jason Momoa is in it, and he is beautiful and perfect.

If you will, so will I
