Turns out to be an incredible film. I think for all of us, a part of us wants to rescue that child whose resilence suggests so much potential.

I will have to agree with everyone here and say it was one of the best films of 2012 I saw. 4/5

Holy Motors Weird, weird weird French film with Kylie Minogue & Eva Mendez. I really did enjoyed it but I don't know why cuz I hadn't a clue what it was about. My thoughts was it was like Big Brother or reality tv to the max, with actors acting on instructions for the wealthy elite? Only cuz there was a comment about how the cameras kept getting so small you couldn't see them anymore. The French actor Denis Lavant was brilliant in it. 8.5/10 for a film I didn't understand but thoroughly enjoyed! thumbs up! check it out!

I also thought this movie was delightfully strange. 4/5

Is Suprman talking about the same imageless movie?

Sorry to butt in so late but I can not get it.

Sweetie, the image was there just fine, and then suddenly it wasn't when I clicked on the thread today.

One thing is for certain, if you actually have a chance to see Beasts of the Southern Wild, imageless is the complete opposite of how one would describe it. There are certain stils from the film so potent that they etch themselves into memory a bit like a surreal, neo- southern Gothic dream wink

I heard about this, was thinking about adding it to my Sunday "to watch" list for next week (tomorrow I already promised the other half to watch Argo) smile I need to check out the trailer for it...

Uncle Boonme Who Can Recall His Past Lives

Overall, I give it out of 5 Kanye stumps.

The story is about a man who is dying of a terminal illness who goes back to his rural Village in Northern Thailand.

He is visited by his long dead wife's ghost as well as a family member who had escaped into the jungle years

ago and turned into a "monkey ghost."

During this period he is also able to recall several of his past lives, revealed in this movie in 10 or 15 minute

mini-movies within the greater story. The stories are really odd, somewhat sad or melancholy, and often

very hard to understand without a clear understanding of Thai animist beliefs and folklore.

I found the movie at times very moving, and at other times very .... mundane. It's as if a camera followed

a man around in a documentary style format. It's low budget adding to it's strange affect on me, as well

as a certain level of charm.

I applaud this movie for going far beyond the usual Thai movie which is either a dreadful romantic comedy

revealing the usual Asian racisim/colourism and distortion or hyper-campy-interpretation of western

genres and attitudes, and for it avoiding a paint-by-numbers copycat of far superior japanese genres (horror,

mystery, etc.).

I'm hoping it's part of a wave of Thai movies that breaks from tradition, by exploring tradition.

If you're interesting, click the image above.

Zero Dark Thirty.

It was okay. It wasn't as suspenseful as it could've been. It was simply blah for me.

The Lives of Others - 5/5 I try to show a little restraint in rating anything but I immediately felt after watching that this was one of the best movies I’d ever seen.

ParaNorman (2012) - A misunderstood boy takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse.

It was funny although a little sillier than I would have liked. And wow, the way the witch was animated at the end was very cool. star star star

For your first non-G movie in 7 years, I think a Tarentino film was a good choice lol

I really liked this too. Everyone was raving about Christoph Waltz (rightfully so) but Leonardo DiCaprio really iced the cake for me boxed

If you will, so will I

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) - A younger and more reluctant Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, sets out on an "unexpected journey" to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of Dwarves to reclaim their stolen mountain home from a dragon named Smaug.

Overlong and repetitive, but it looked great in IMAX 3D. star star star 1/2

You're crazy... this was not my favorite of the LOTR/Hobbit films, but it definitely did not feel as long as the others.

If you will, so will I

Weil there is no excuse for me not seeing this film. I live in New Orleans right now so I must make seeing this a priority!

Mutant Chronicles 0.5/5 I almost forgot I even watched it and I don't remember how it ended, but I'm sure the human race won. A lot of shooting and a lot of people died, I know that much.

Chronicle (2011) -- the storyline and acting was pretty good, but the film was inventively shot, effectively blending mid-budget CGI with the Blair Witch style. I hope the director and cinematographer get the chance to do bigger things together.

101 Reykjavik (2000)

This is a slacker movie, probably fashionable back then lol and it was OK, the soundtrack was weird - industrial. I watched it to see what Iceland looks like, it's interesting to me. Victoria speaking in english wasn't quite right IMO, but necessary. Overall pretty depressing and not so much of a comedy mad

I'm the mistake you wanna make

I was thoroughly disappointed. Potential was there but all we got was a stupid movie.

Like a high school football recruit, I rate the way I do because of the director's potential you mention, and how it could translate to the "next level" so to speak.
