This is clearly why my cats have been acting like total spazzfaces all day.

Weird, though. I can't remember the last time the government issued this kind or warning. I know there was some really bad worms they made announcements about, but that was years ago.

This is so weird; I work for a government agency and I have not heard anything about this. Unless IT support remotely disabled java and we were never informed. Weird... neutral

If you're on a mac connected to the Internet, your mac java should already be disabled.

Mine happened yesterday morning automatically.

In regards to Java, I think now that we have Flash, having Java is useless. I might as well delete it from my Program Files folder... I disabled it in Firefox and Opera though.

But what about certain online video games that relies on Java? confused

And can anyone tell me how this latest crisis is going to have a negative effect on computers running Linux?

I don't even go to those sites with online video games because some of them got malware in it anyways...

lol I went to the Java site to have it detected to see which version I had, apparently I had an old version. I think I read it could or has affected all Java 7's but I'm not sure. lol

Based on this information I disabled my Java. What exactly does that mean? What's gonna happen?

If that means no updates for a while and most websites stick to using the previous versions I'm fine with it.

I have to manually install that shit by compiling it from the source and it doesn't really help that you have to modify it for different browsers. Yeah, that's Linux for you.

At this point, fuck a Java. lol

I don't see why we need it anymore. We've evolved and yet they still keep hanging around...

It seems the ones who rely on it need to use older versions of it until they can fix the "new ones".

While using Chromium & Firefox, I notice no difference from how things were when I had the Java plugin. cool

The main thing is that we still need Flash Player & Image viewer.

So for the time being, it's only PC users with Windows and/or Linux that are left without a stable Java plugin. That figured. rolleyes disbelief lol

That's not true. Just follow this link to automatically download the appropriate (stable...for the time being) version of Java for your OS and browser.
