Today I bought a new pillow :)

And as I was putting it into my pillow case I noticed it has a use by date

They r telling me to chuck it out in two years time

So WTF!!!! I had my old pillow for like 10 years eek

what's going on??? Will my new sofa have a use by date 2.

Is this a money making thing or should I really be changing my pillow every two years?

And how often do u change your pillow?

hmm

I wait for them to get lumpy and ratty before replacing them. Never ever heard of an "expiration" date for pillows before.

How many people will fall for it and change their pillow after 2 yeas?
Sometimes it takes two years for me to get used to a pillow

And imagine all the sales on pillows that have expired neutral

They say you need to replace your mattress every 8 years also...

but I have lots of pillows on my bed, and I rotate them. Also I stick them in the dryer from time to time to re-fresh them and knock out all the dust mites.

So I hang onto my pillows for a much longer time, since they looks new and stay fluffy. (I buy expensive down pillows that do not shed as much) I also change my cases every other day since I have allergies.

I also never put my wet head on my pillows, I think if you use the same pillow and lay a wet head of hair on the pillows on a regular then yeah... change the pillows often.

I was once told by my allergist that I should change my pillow every 3 months. Pssh! talk to the hand

Don't get all nerdy on us King...this is a pillow thread...I'm sure that ThisOne fully expects the thread to degenerate into a sex-related thread soon enough.

Oh my god damn.

I thought this thread was going to be an allegory for something else.

Or perhaps the 'pillow' would be an artifact used in a steamy story that

would enthrall us all.

Perhaps, she was using this entire thing as imagery to point out some greater,

larger, more engrossing plot.

Nope. It's about pillows. neutral

A lot of pillows are washable. Mine have washable covers, though I've never washed the actual pillows.

Sounds silly. How would you even know that 2 years has passed since you bought it? Does it have a place to write in your date of purchase or date of "expiration," like vent filters and water filters?
A many have already suggested, it seems it'd depend on how you use it and how well you take care of it, and how allergic you are to the allergens in it.
