Need more than enough if you wanna help your family and then save some for yourself if you really see something you want. Everything I buy now it's what I wanted compared to years ago when I bought things just because I thought it was cool. Same with my parents who did the same with me as a kid.

This is inspired by Graycap's thread...

See, I initially balked at the idea of spending $500 on a pair of headphones. I thought to myself; "that's crazy".

Then in the watches thread I posted my "dream" watch that I have my eye on...just about $500 (even if I can make payments on it).

hmm

So then I'm thinking...there really is no difference between a nice watch and a pair of nice headphones...or an iPad...or a Michael Kors handbag...or a pair of Bulgari aviator sunglasses...or anything that isn't essential to your well-being that you would put that kind of money on.

So...what about YOU?

If you were handed a $500 Visa giftcard and told to spend it on whatever you wanted...WHAT WOULD YOU BUY???

question

$200 on a tablet, most likely a Google Nexus. The remaining $300 on food, mostly organic vegetables & fruits, chicken, fish (salmon, sadines in olive oil, & kipper snacks), & grass-fed beef.

Just, $500, must be fun, guilt free, on whatever I want? hmmm

This Death Cab For Cutie vinyl box set. I really want it and I know it's going to sell out, but I can't make myself spend the $225 to buy it.

Same with The Beatles Stereo Vinyl Box Set. I really want this one, too, but they're making a lot more of these than the DCFC set, so I should be able to get this one later if I decide I really want it.

The last three 'Absolute Sandman' and the 'Absolute Death' books.

Might put it towards trying to get a 'Grateful Dead Europe 72 Complete Recordings Box Set'. I could have picked one up for $500 before they sold out. I regret not doing so.

Honestly though, I'd probably end up doing what Ivy did, picking up a bunch of smaller things that I really want/need.

I totally agree about the headphones btw. Get good ones and don't feel guilty about it. You won't regret it.

Can you buy anything for $500.00 now? lol

I have a guitar that needs a neck reset, and that's about how much the procedure cost. So, off to the shop she goes.

We're working on it so that all parties involved will be as happy as they can be considering the circumstances.

Will they eventually come around? That remains to be seen.

You changed carreers and are a diplomat now?

I do hope it's going to work out for the two of you. You seemed to be happy whilst you were together.

It's not me, if I had my way I'd tell everyone to fuck right off, but I understand that there are a lot of sensitive factors that come into play, and to make our lives easier it's best to handle this as delicately and rationally as possible.

We'll see what happens. lol

Very mature. And probably the only way the two of you can make your relationship work.

Well, if you feel the need to take a break from that mature diplomatic sensitive talk, feel free to let yourself go over here.

This place can use a little spice. I'm way too positive and neutral. Some mean wit is necessary to balance my positivity out.

I have a list. It's initially what I wanted to buy myself for Xmas but I didn't have more than that to spend, so I spent it on my kids.

TuneUp subscription

A really nice chess set

Adventure Time 1st season

Jumper cables

Black socks

Milk crates for my vinyl

Wiper blades

Pyrex bowls

Other stuff I can't think of with three hours of sleep last night. dead

I´m disappointed. I mean, what a bullshit list. A chess set? TuneUp subscription? Pyrex bowls? Fuck that. Homie is you for real? Seriously?

The only thing on that list that makes A LITTLE BIT of sense are those wiper blades, and only because I like to ride with you.

Milk crates? Dude....come on.

Next time I´m in Chicago we´ll stroll through the aisles of WalMart again, I´ll enjoy a piece of Americana and I´ll get you some wiper blades....on the house !

The Pyrex bowls? Nah....we can find similar stuff at the 1 $ store. While we´re at it, we can get you a chess game there, too.

Socks are aight....I was going to get some more Starter briefs at Walmart anyway....the socks are on me. I still have one unopened pack of black socks, by the way. Maybe I´ll put them in my suitcase and give them to you....they aight, but they don´t give me that comfy feeling that those other ones I bought give me.

500 dollars and you come up with such a ridiculous list....you fool. lol

Pyrex bowls my ass.

You know what I´d do with 500 dollars?

No....not THAT.

It´s time I come over there....you sound confused my friend.

Pyrex bowls.....Adventure Time 1st season.... lol lol lol

Seriously.

lol

Why don´t you get a hot new bicycle? Like...an Electra ?

Starter briefs edit wink

[Edited 1/14/13 14:45pm]

Nah I probably wouldn't even make it to 500. TuneUp is onlly 50 bucks, Adventure Time is 40 bucks, The Pyrex bowls I want are only 27 bucks. I'd make it happen. lol
