Video hoes shake their asses, are half-dressed and over sexualized and in my opinion, that is her. And yes, it can apply to a whole lot of people but we're discussing Beyonce.

Prince

Yep and if you search hard enough, I'm sure you can find my posts on Prince including my thoughts on what I felt about Mayte being half-dressed, shaking her ass and being over sexualized.

I don't think that makes them video hoes

was the problem more with Mayte than Prince?

because I know that men will never get judged in the same way women will

I didn't say it made them video hoes, only that they remind me of them.

I don't particularly have a problem with either Mayte or Prince: I just find it curious now or since Prince has been a JW, that some of his stuff (dancing in particular) is still so sexual. It seems to be a direct contradiction of what he says he believes. As far as Mayte was concerned, I didn't get why she was so video hoish on stage and that Prince put his wife out there to be video hoish. But like with Beyonce, as I have said on another thread, I don't have to like it. Her fans dig it and more power to them. I do believe that an opposite opinion of her should be able to stand on its face without it coming to: I don't understand why you don't like her.

I don't understand why people like 99% of the artists in this forum but I don't have to. It is what it is.

And of course Prince won't get judged. You can't post anything that's not glowing about him in the Prince forum without personal attacks.

yes it is what I think, but the info posted is from http://www.thefreedictionary.com/

you created the information that I'm picking up

No I'm not envious of Beyonce or you

if you know so much about how she is in videos, how do you know unless you're following her?

And this is not just about you, it was never about you, but again you post in every Beyonce thread?

I do not post in every Beyonce thread. If you can find more than these two and maybe one other, I will not ever post in another one. In fact, I usually don't say anything about her because friends of mine here like her. I just got tired of holding my tongue on the subject.

And nowhere in my post did I say you were envious of Beyonce or me so I have zero idea what you are talking aobut there.

And once again, you are forming opinions of people you know nothing about, the same thing you accused me doing with Beyonce.

I have seen maybe three Beyonce videos and two Grammy performances. I have also seen the GQ video shoot and those are enough for me to think she needs to tone down the sex kitten act.

I am disappointed in it because she can sing and doesn't need to be extra.

Tired of holding your tongue? You must be around a bunch of Beyonce cheerleaders. Is it that serious?

I can only form an opinion about how you reply to Beyonce or other 'starlettes'. You are more powerful than you understand wink

If you've only seen 3 videos (out of how many) and 2 Grammy performances, how can you conclude her to be like a video ho? Wouldn't you have to see the whole of her work? if she only was hoish in 3 videos but the rest she wasn't then why is she judged by those 3?

actress Eartha Kitt never toned down the sex kitten act

I guess that's everyones individual opinions, but if she wants to be sexy, I'm not a Beyonce cheerleader and not really a 'fan' I've enjoyed videos, and performances, but I don't think in all the videos or performances did she convey ho

Because it was on tv, I watched most of her "I Am Yours"? concert, and I don't believe at all did she not put on a good show and definately nothing to be reduced to video ho

I guess when it comes to sexual or sensual movements that will always be an issue of contension, I think Prince still struggles with incorporating his JW beliefs with his Princedom

Personally, I see it as mostly a form of acting, like an actor can pretend to be gay or are whore, but shouldn't have to be seen as a contradiction. Sorta

It seems you think she has good singing skills? You just wish she would dress a certain way and Sade Anita Baker, Celine Dion render the songs?

I critique a lot of what Prince does, I don't get nasty like some people do, but I sure don't think everything he does or has done is glowing and good

My thing is people like who and what they do, some of those likes are short lived, some long term, it's entertainment which makes it alright for them to like the person or group. There are so many out there that i don't even try to keep up, I get people who say they don't understand Prince or why. I was talking with a coworker and she said "I just don't get Prince" "I liked him back then(1980's) I asked her "Did you even get him back then?" she said "well no..." I shared a few Prince songs with her, and after that I stopped sharing, no swet off my back

the expected response

You judged her to be like a video ho

When you check out all of her videos and her performances then you can judge her performances & character, in the mean time she's making that money

bye bye

Her making money is important to YOU obviously. I don't care how much money she makes. I do not need to see more than one video to think someone is acting video hoish. My criteria, not yours or anyone else's.

I'll leave you to your standom now. wave

You said you were done in post 64

No it's not important, the point is whether you like her I like her or not she's going to make her money and is making it, why put so much energy into her if you don't like her, she doesn't know you exist, u know she exists, watch her videos or 3 and judge her as a ho, she's making that money anyway...

You said you were done in post 64

U don't have to keep responding, you are more powerful than you understand, you can stop and can stop making an issue of your not liking her

Exactly one of the points I was making.

If it's someone you like, you don't care that they're constantly in your face and you feel no need for them to sit their ass down somewhere or give it a rest. smile

Not for me. I enjoy when an artist that I'm into has breaks between projects. I always feel that it gives me a chance to just opine and luxuriate in whatever they last left me with...and then I get the chance to miss 'em a little lol

The interesting thing about Beyonce is that I don't follow her career at all (or at least nothing outside of the 3 digital singles I purchased from her debut cd 6 years ago)---but oddly, even here in the Germany it's a bit as if she is the de facto face representing all things Black American Female. Hers is the face on weekly Tv Guides, repping products, all things fashion, hair and beauty as it relates to the Black American Feminine Mystique. I try to read up a lot from USA publications just to find out who else is doing new and exciting things related to music, pop culture, ect., because if I didn't there would only be that one face present everywhere... in a sea where black American faces are virtually non-existent... there's Beyonce, and then whoever has been nominated for an Oscar each year (the latter getting media shine for about 2 months after the ceremony while Germany goes through their Oscar obsession), and the that's it. shrug

The more successful you are the bigger the target fair or unfairly that's part of the human condition. Years ago, I recall an interview with Eddie Murphy, he said he was being offered outrageous amounts of money to endorse this and that, he turned them down. His reasoning was, he feared being overexposed and the public getting sick and tired of seeing him. Just think this was before the Net, Twitter, Facebook, Blog's, 24/7 media, TMZ, Smart-phones ..... I think he had a point. Ms. Knowles may have been a tad overexposed. Of course she not the first person ever to be but now there's an Internet that allows everyone and anyone that's sick of whom or whatever to express their opinion. Its a double edge sword I'm afraid. shrug

I remember at one point during the Thriller era,Michael Jackson was afraid of being overexposed. That was one reason why he didn't appear in any of the music videos from the 'Victory' project. Can you imagine how crazy things would have been if we had Twitter,Facebook, blogs, etc. back in those days?! nuts

NO!

I tell you, I am so glad I grew up without all of that mess in my face 24/7 lol

It is possible that people are not jealous and do not "hate" on celebrities. The only thing she has that I want is money and I can get what I want or need.

The only reason celebrities irk the living hell out of me is how society values them. Raises them to a level of an almost diety. Now, that isn't her fault but I believe she buys into her own hype.

I think its kinda intellectually dismissive and lazy to accuse others of being jealous because some one had achieved fame or money. Unless we are all pre-teenagers on the org; I would like to think life has taught us, nobody gets out of this alive and neither fame nor money shields you from the trials and tribulations of life.

What I do admire and respect are the pursuits of excellence, curiosity and intellectually honesty. The Arts play a very important role in shaping civilization, and for better or for worse sometime reflects the time in which we live in. The thing is, there are artist of every discipline who are pursing excellence and they've been thrown to the side for self promoting light weights who possess the depth of a shallow puddle of water in a pothole. This type of over the top celebrity irks the hell out of me as well. We do have a choice in what we digest but when I was growing up the media introduced me to all types artist that I would've never naturally gravitated too. The Late Show with Johnny Carson (for example) had musicians of ever discipline and genre, essayist, playwrights, poets, and philosopher's. I may have not agreed with all that was being said or liked every artist I saw but they were for the most part the cream of the crop at what they did. Now celebrity /infamy is used to distract us from more important things; we've embraced and celebrated the lowest common denominator. If you can't distinguish bullshit from substance, I'd argue you would have a hard time distinguishing bullshit in other parts of life... such as the political because everything is political. As my mother says, "The USA is suffering form cultural deprivation." Pathetic.

She's beautiful and talented. Her private life stays private. Not much controversy around her (stupid conspiracy theories and rants about her "wanting to be white" aside).

She acts like a lady, and she's very mature and poised.

Why do you treat her like she's Kim Kardashian? Just because she's "everywhere"? Well she's everywhere for the right reasons. She's an entertainer, a star.

Issue? Material sounds like it came from a 5 year old.

Pretty much. Overrated and overhyped. I put her in the same class as Rihianna, Fergie & Jennifer Lopez - lightweights.
