How much do you pay for cellphone service? So for the last 6 years, I've been a loyal customer with T-Mobile UK on a high tariff. I've always had premium top-of-the-range phones, and unlimited mobile internet packages. I've been paying between £35 to £40 a month for this (that works out as $50-$60 USD), and that's fairly standard here for a premium phone + service.
Now, the reason I've been doing this is because A) you pay no upfront cost for the premium phone on those tariffs, and B) I require unlimited mobile internet as I use anything between 4 -7 GB a month. For example, I could take out a Samsung Galaxy S3 or an iPhone 5 right now with no upfront cost on that tariff if I so wished.
But, I just bought a Google Nexus 4 outright myself. So now I don't need the network to subsidize the phone over a 2 year period for me. Also - I don't need many minutes or texts. I use less than 100 minutes a month and don't text much.
So I called up T-Mobile to enquire about a SIM-only plan (just the service, no phone). They want £21 ($33) a month!!! That's totally unreasonable.
So now I'm switching to Three - a rival network. They have offered me 200 minutes, 5000 texts and unlimited mobile internet for...... dah dah dah.... £12 ($19) a month. And with a bonus incentive right now, I can bring that down to £10.76 ($17). What's more, it's only a 1-month rolling contract, so there's no lock-in period past the first month - If I find an even better deal with another network next month, then I can move again.
So how much do you pay for your cellphone plan and what do you get for your money?

I think I pay $34 per month (until Nov) for $500 of calls and 1.5gb data The master is letting his contract expire and will then pay $19 per month for same thing. I was told I'd have to give back my handset if I did that which is not correct. So I'm gonna call them to give them a piece of my mind I'm the mistake you wanna make

I'm with Virgin Mobile. I pay $25 a month for 300 minutes of talk, unlimited texting and unlimited internet. It's fantastic! And I have this really groovy Android phone that I paid like $110 for that meets all my needs. It just bewilders me why people would agree to pay a small fortune every month on a telephone. I have other more important bills to tend to. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Personally, I pay ZERO. I have a company phone.
However, my brother just got a good deal through Metro PCS for 4G service at only $30/month. There are big limitations on bandwidth usage, but still that's a good price.
Militant...I don't know of ANYONE paying anything less than $30/month around here.
3 years ago when I paid for my ex's cell phone...through Sprint...we paid around $100/month for unlimited texting and all that. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Ex-Moderator | I have unlimited data, 200 texts and the smallest # of minutes you can purchase for a month. I think it's 400 day minutes, unlimited "any other time" minutes. I pay about $66 a month and that's with a company discount. |

I pay $50 for 450 Anytime Minutes, Unlimited Nights/Weekends/In-Network and Unlimited Texts.
And I don't have a landline, got rid of it about 10 years ago.
These days you really need to have a cell phone if you get out at all, it's not like there's an abundance of payphones around. "Never let nasty stalkers disrespect you. $63 for two phones, a pretty large number of anytime minutes on each (I forget how many) and the minutes roll over.
No text plan, and no internet, so I think the price may be a little high. We could have both (texting and internet) for something like another $18 a month, but neither of us use those features, so there's no need.
Edit: Anytime minutes
Second Edit: Oh, well, reading what other people are paying, maybe I'm not paying too much. I just thought it was a lot because we don't have texting/internet, but maybe it's more reasonable than I thought.

I had a Vodafone for 30 euro, but I exceeded the sms bundle. For the last half year I had to pay bills up to 300!!
I have paid Vodafone 1200 euro this year, and there still is one bill of 320 (!!!) euros open. I pay 1 euro for text or minute calling, because it was more than my subscription. So, Vodafone really wants to get the 1600,- euro in total from me. Eventhough I don't even have money to buy myself food at the moment.
I begged them to give me a break on that one. I mean, they have earned a lot on me this year. But in stead of having some mercy, they topped up the bill.
So, don't switch to Vodafone, they don't do service nor do they treat their costumers as humans.
I think I'm switching to T-mobile. Depends on who has the best bargain. And that is not Vodafone, not going back to them ever. [Edited 1/7/13 7:02am] 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Mine's pretty much the same: 250 texts, 450 minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile calling, unlimited data. I think I pay around $68 for mine (after a 20% corporate discount).
I've never come close to using my full allotment of minutes or texts. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I have one of those cheapo phones that I bought for about $25.00 at Target with Net10 pay as you go service: 200 minutes for 31 days at $15.00 a month. Any remaining minutes left after the 31 days roll over. I just refuse to pay anything more for a phone I barely use anyway. I don't give out the number to avoid people calling me and causing me to use up minutes. If they do call, I instruct them to call back on the home phone; however, there are a few assholes who refuse to follow instruction, and I just don't answer if they continue to call the cell phone.
I have the triple play plan with Comcast that covers cable, home phone and internet service for about $120.00/month. I don't like cell phones anyway. The sound quality is shit-full. I don't text and I take very few pictures, and I certainly don't use it for internet connection, although the phone has all the bells and whistles of most cell phones. I carry it mainly for emergencies or when Comcast screws up and I need a phone, which has happened on occasion, and I ended up using all the minutes messing with them and their piss-poor customer service.
