Brotha Mike Brown is laughing in his soup to the tune of $11000000 for the next three years, courtesy of Dr. Buss' s impatience and arrogance. I doubt Phil is still upset he was passed over for this tire fire, plus he's marrying the daughter in charge, Cohibas are a smokin' in his house.

What do you expect with two Divas Shaq couldn't stand Kobe when he was with the Lakers, but they managed two championships together. Too bad it won't happen this season. Go Clippers!

Not true. Kobe has consider playing in Italy after his contract with the Lakers expires. He wants to play a few years in the European league before going full-time retiremment.

I'm not surprised and I still won't be when Dwight is traded before the deadline. It seems pretty clear he's not going to re-sign anyway. Kobe is a task master workaholic. Always has been, always will be. Some players deal with that shit better than others. Dwight clearly isn't one of them. Dude has always seemed like clowning around and having a good time is a big part of his game. In some places, on some teams, that works. The current LA Lakers are NOT one of those teams.

Kobe isn't leaving LA. In fact, I have very little doubt that he'll stick around at the end of his current contract. Probably sign a short new one with a lot of player and team options so he can retire or be let go if either party decides it's time. But if he was going to leave he would have done so when he threatened to before. He has too much of a sense of, and respect for, his own legacy at this point. He knows that whether or not he wins another title (or more), that remaining with one team for his entire career, without retiring and coming back, will separate him (as in make him different, not necessarily better) from that "other guy". Plus, there's the slim chance that he could end up ahead of Kareem on the points list, and Kareem set that record while he was playing with the Lakers. Kobe pays attention to that stuff. At the very least you can bet he sticks around until he passes Jordan.
As far as playing overseas goes, yeah, I guess. Dude has talked about it. But I really think it's just a ploy to keep the Lakers on their toes and ready to pay out.

As announced by the Lakers on Monday afternoon, all three of their primary big men are out with injury. From Lakers.com:
Hill suffered an injury to his right hip in last night’s game and suffered a small tear in his hip, reports Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Celebrating center Robert Sacre will be recalled from the team's D-League affiliate and likely start Tuesday night's game in Houston against the Rockets. According to Mike Bresnah...eles Times, head coach Mike D'Antoni also suggested that Metta World Peace — typically a small forward, albeit a big one — could also get minutes at center. Clearly, whatever solution the Lakers come up with will be less than ideal.
It's not yet known how long each player will be out. Bresnahan cites a source claiming that Howard will miss about a week, which is in line with the most optimistic estimates on recovery from labrum tears (the most severe tears require surgery and months on the sidelines). When he returns, Howard will have yet another nagging injury to deal with in addition to his surgically repaired back, which has limited his effectiveness this season. The effects of concussions can linger for weeks, and the NBA's recently adopted policy on head injuries ensures that Gasol won't return to the court until he passes a number of predetermined tests. Hill, for his part, should miss about two games, but he's obviously not considered to be on the same level as Howard and Gasol.
To make matters even worse, the Lakers have a pretty difficult schedule this week with road games against the Rockets and San Antonio Spurs and a home game against the West-leading Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night. Next week gets a bit easier, but they also face the Miami Heat next Thursday. Plus, every game they play with temporary solutions in the paint will be a challenge, particularly for a team that hasn't impressed defensively this season.

Damn, is the season already over for L.A.? I watched their Christmas game against the Knicks and they were actually good (if Melo hadn't been stupid with the ball, New York could've won).

No. Not yet. They could still make the playoffs, but it's not guaranteed. And who knows what they'll do if they get there.

The root issues:
1. Jim Buss. There were only 4 coaches who could have definitely handled this team. 1 is a GM, one coaches a rival team, one's at Duke and one's put five banners up at Staples. The last guy was free and wanted the gig. Buss hired a different coach TOTALLY unsuited for the aged, half-court roster.
2. Kobe. For better or for worse. For 17 years. The most divisive, polarizing legend in basketball. He's desperate and the worst in him has come out.
3. Chemistry.
4. Age/Maturity. They are both too old AND too immature at this stage. Deadly combo.
5. Depth.

I laughed when Buss hired D'Amdummy over Phil Jackson. Dude is nothing but a gimmick. He can't coach players who don't fit his system, refuses to adjust and wouldn't know defense if it bit him in the ass.
Buss let his EGO get in the way, and the Fakers are paying the price for it.
