Dog, Cat or Other? (The Org Pet thread) Okay you crazy Orgers...let's give some love to our four-legged (or otherwise) friends!
Are you a Dog Person, a Cat Person, or another type of pet altogether?
What's your ideal pet?
Why do or don't you have any?
Post some pics if you have 'em!!! By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Here I go;
I am definitely a DOG person. (Year of the Dog in Chinese astrology)
I don't mind cats, and they like me as well, but I wouldn't buy a cat.
My ideal dog would be either a Mini Pinscher (if i move into a small apartment)
...or a Labrador of some kind if I have a bigger place;
I don't currently own a dog myself because I don't have my own place, and when I had my house, I didn't want to be responsible for a "fourth child". However, I live with my brother's dog - a chihuahua - and he's reminded me that I am definitely a dog person. I definitely will get my own dog later on.
Here is my kids' current plaything, & his name is Squirt; By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I'm definitely a cat person. This my kitty, Thomasina.
I'm not a huge fan of dogs, I really just tolerate them. They're fine if they want a quck pet but most that I encounter are so needy. Jump on me, get in my face, bark loudly. Maybe they sense that I'm not into them much like cats do with people that don't care for them. Also, I'm too lazy to have a dog. Cats are great for lazy people. They're lazy too! I love animals... I have allergies and asthma... grew up with all sorts of pets, cats, dogs, bunnies, even a seagull...
So all I got now is fish (tetras and loaches) and frogs... horny assed frogs that buzz and chirp and jump around and amuse my kids.
I grew to love my horny frogs

sorry about the blurry pics... the frogs move too much and I guess I got to clean that tank!
FYI my tetras are so smart they lay on the leaves to sleep like the leaves are beds and they will hide under the leaves (lay flat on their side under) and rock to avoid the fish net.... the loaches I never see, they are excellent at hiding in the gravel.

Definitely a cat person here. Always loved cats, their gracefulness, their independence, their general quiet, and their overall "design." I really think God took a bit of extra time in planning these amazing creatures. We have a 5-year-old Manx-Tonkinese mix that looks exactly like this guy, but with only a 1/4-length tail (as is frequent with the Manx breed)...
I don't dislike dogs, but I am allergic to most. I really dig the look of Shar-Peis and Dachsunds, but I've read conflicting reports that they often are plagued with skin and spinal problems, respectively, and both breeds have a temperament that may be a bit too aggressive for my tastes.

I'm into heavy petting, if that counts? 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Ex-Moderator | Cat person all the way, but I'm an animal lover overall. I really do love them all. My bf is a dog person so as soon as we have a bigger house there will be a dog in my life for the first time.

I grew up on a farm so there was always an abundance of farm cats (e.g. outdoor cats). My parents would usually let my brother and me take in one kitten every so often which would be come our house cat.
We also always had a dog growing up. We had a collie when I was very young, after he died, we had a couple of mutts over the years. Our dogs were never allowed in the house, ever.
I guess I would have considered myself a pet person when I was younger but life on the farm is tough...I can't tell you the number of cats/dogs we had to put down or that were killed in farm accidents or run over. I had to develop thick skin so as an adult I'm really not into animals.
Cats shed everywhere and their food and litter boxes always smell. I can almost always tell if someone has a cat when I walk in their home. Dogs are just gross -- slobbery and wanting to jump on you, and in the city you have to walk them and pick up their . I don't really think dogs should be inside pets.
I do have quite a few plants. They are quiet, low maintenance, and good for the environment. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I haven't any pets. I'm very allergic to cats, so they're out. And I spend too much time away from home to make having a dog realistic. (It'd be horribly unfair to the dog.)
So I content myself with enjoying the dogs of family members and friends - all of whom recognize my name when it's uttered by their owners and go immediately to the door to await my arrival. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I love all animals, no real favorites.
I have a dog (my other one passed away this year), 3 cats, 2 lovebirds and a guinea pig.

We did live on a farm, I would always catch, find, or be gifted with the oddest pets.
My mom wanted to kill me over that Croc. I just couldn't understand why keeping her would be a problem, she was only going to grow to 4 feet! "Aren't you even curious? Don't you want to see the dragon behind the door?"
