As we approach a new year, I was thinking about some things in my life that I have not experienced yet. I don't plan to do all of these things in 2013, nor is this a bucket list or anything like that. These are just 10 things I have not done and in some cases will probably never do.

1) I have never been out of the United States: Okay, I did go to Cancun on my Honeymoon but I am not sure if that counts since it is basically an artificial city stuck in the middle of Mexico. I would like to travel more but the life circumstances just have not worked out.

2) I have never been to Texas, California, or New York: I have been to Chicago but haven't experienced LA or NYC yet. Definitely would like to see both in the next couple of years.

3) I have never had a mustache: I've done the beard and goatee but never the mutache. Is this the year I try a handlebar or a porn stache...I'm tempted.

4) I have never smoked or done any type of drugs: Unless alcohol counts, in which case I basically swam in alcohol for 3 of my college years.

5) I have never climbed a mountain: I Youtube Everest scenes all the time and mountains fascinate me, as do deserts and big caves. Alas, I don't have the arm strength to climb a mountain. I can only get up about 6 feet on the rock climbing wall at our local gym so Everest might be out.

6) I have never been in a fist fight: Would have probably gotten my butt kicked if attempted. I'm a lover not a fighter.

7) I have never had a threesome: Speaking of being a lover, this concept intrigues me but it just seems like there is too much going on with one of these things. I worry about keeping up with the group or else being left out entirely. Now if my wife agreed and we could get Scarlett Johansson involved then it is on!

8) I have never ridden a horse: Sat on one a few times but chickened out before actually setting the horse in motion. Looks like it would be fun but would prefer to ride something like a cow.

9) I have never finished a book: Writing not reading. I would love to take one of these ideas for a book and take it all the way through but up to now, I have not had the discipline. I admire those who have been able to translate what is in their head to paper.

10) I have never had six pack abs: I went on a pretty good exercise regime a couple of years ago but once I let down a littlee bit I never got back on it. I want to be healthier and I would love to stop being chunky and start being hunky.

I guess I'll be able to tell if 2013 has been productive if I am a horse-riding, muscle-bound world traveller with a best selling novel and a passing resemblance to 1970's Burt Reynolds.

I finished writing a book when I was about 5. I think my parents might even still have it. I wrote and illustrated and stapled it all together. It's about a fish named Billy Bob. I think his whole family gets eaten and he's sad and alone at the end.

And I've never had 6 pack abs. I never will. I used to want to be thin, now I realize that it would need to be my top priority in life and take up all of my time and energy and I'd rather spend (most of) that on other things. I do my best to be healthy and the rest will work itself out.

Some of these would have been on my next 10 list. I never learned to play a musical instrument and I regret it. I have also thought at various times about getting a tattoo but have chickened out. I di win $300 in a Pick 5 lottery one time, matched 4 numbers and was one number away from 100 grand.
