Let's visit Paintedlady and have some turtle soup

Turtles stranding on Mass. shores at brisk pace

BOSTON (AP) — Sea turtle strandings in Massachusetts' Cape Cod Bay are so common that the phenomenon has its own season. But the brisk rate at which the cold-stunned turtles are washing ashore this year has packed a local rescue hospital.

As of Saturday, 221 turtles had been stranded this fall. That already exceeds the range of 50 to 200 that typically are stranded from October to December.

The numbers have pushed the New England Aquarium's Animal Care Center over its turtle capacity a few times, and more than two dozen were flown to a Florida to relieve the crowding.

The cold-blooded animals become immobile when the temperature drops too low. And the geography of the Cape, which hooks well into the ocean, acts as a natural turtle trap.

It's a normal dish in French cuisine, too nod

I will admit I can eat some weird stuff and love it: fish roe in German and Japanese food, German blood sausages, New Zealand's ostrich meat, Floridian battered & fried alligator tenders with dip---butthere are a few foods I just can't ***k with:

escargot (it's the aesthetic that turns me off, they're probably good, but they look ugly lol )

pigs feet

chitlins' aka chitterlings/fresh, uncleaned pig intestines

turtle meat

frogs legs

horse steaks (tho' I did see obscenely priced packages of it in the fancy- frou frou mall recently)

I used to be a crazy for quail when I was young, but fowl over here in Germany most of the time is so full of feathers which you must remove yourself---one day maybe 10 years ago I purchased some, and they looked to similar to humans, and the freaking feathers stuck in them after cooking were too much like human hair, I was too through and haven't touched a quail since----though I can get down with eating quail eggs as a fancy h'ors douuvre. But turtles, something about their legs in some species are too cute and remind me of fat, cuddly human baby legs, and frog legs remind me of human supermodel legs. So I can't go there.... but it's alright...I already know.... I'm mental. wacky lol

Frog legs are wonderful. They have the same texture as chicken wings, but taste like fish.

Escargot is amazing, too - especially prepared the French way with garlic, butter, and lemon, and served with croutons for sopping up the butter. drool

One, who has a pot big enough?

Two, that's for riding like in Finding Nemo. How old is that, turtle/tortoise, 99 yrs old? I know they can get up there.

I guess a lot of soup could be made from that turtle....

I don't think it's that old, if I remember correct it was more the age of a teenager for a turtle lol
