I highly reccomend it! everyone in the theatre seemed to have a great time with it.

It's almost 3 hours long but never dull.

saw it twice yesterday once with the hubby on a lunch date love and once with the oldest daughter and youngest daughter's boyfriend (long story).

I LOVED IT.

I love Quentin anyway despite his cockiness, because if it's true it ain't cocky. giggle

I LOVED Christoph Waltz's dialogue, great writing, great delivery.

SAM was sam and played that character as only he can, I loved the duality and I am sure it was an acurate portrayal of some of them.

Jamie! I loved watching the character grow and emerge. I love watching the look in the eyes of his fellow slaves and how they looked at him.

This film was so raw and stark and I had to look away several times because the brutality reminded me of how it might have been.

The story was one I had heard before and I love that Quentin used it the way he did. It was everything I expected it to be.

On Christmas Day,
there were two movies on which I was trying to decide to go see;
Django Unchained (the "D" is silent)

or
Da Hobbit (the "D" is heard).

The fact that I'm posting this comment in this thread should give y'all a clear indication on which film I decided to go see.

On another note what do yall think of Jackie Brown?

Seems not many share my love of the film as much as other QT films. I know it is not as violent, over the top & a big tribute to cinema as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill & Inglorious Bastards.

But it has some of his best dialogue, features probably the smartest and most realistic characters in any QT film and the final scene is pretty beautiful if i may say. Anyone else who has seen the movie what do you think?

It also features probably my favorite use of music in his films.. the intro with Across 110th Street.

I love Jackie Brown. It's far more subtle and less stylized than pretty much all of Tarantino's other films, and it relies on far less non-linear narrative gimmickry or technical razzle dazzle. It's just solid traditional storytelling with realistic motivations and interactions, convincing dialogue and a stage where the actors, not Tarantino's own evil genius, are the stars.

And, yes, that final scene is gorgeous in its simplicity.

hmmm I think I'm gonna watch it tonight!

More like an Uncle Rufus. lol The way he he cried when Candie got shot was just disbelief

But of course anytime Sam says "motherfucker"..it always brings out a laugh in me, ALWAYS! That man puts such emphasis on that word that it's ridiculous. lol

I was bored to tears in most of his previous films, especially Inglorious Bastards.

The scenes of dialogue are far, far, faaaaarrrrrrr too long, and the movies are so poorly edited that you're forced to sit through what feels like the original film, uncut and edited.

It almost makes all the ultra-violence (which I laothe) and semi-witty dialogue seem like gimmicks to keep the movie chugging along. At least, he knows how to end movies though--that's something Peter Jackson could learn from.

I can somewhat agree... i wouldn't say the editing is terrible lol

Inglorious Bastards is good but not great... imo. I know others loved it.

I just love the way Jackie Brown does it's dialogue scenes... it's a different type of tension verses Inglorious or Kill Bill.

I also think sometimes Tarantino fans are sometimes split.

There are those who love the homage & over the top nature.. and some who are about story dialogue.

Like for example i'm more Kill Bill Vol.2 over Vol.1 but i can see why people could like Vol.1 better.

I also love Death Proof & other Tarantino fans seem to not like that one lol

If you haven't liked the editing in Tarantino's films, it would be interesting to see if you enjoy this latest project any better. Django is his first film without editor Sally Menke. She died in 2010. sad

I saw the Flick Christmas Day and the Theatre was packed to the MAX for the early matinee showing.

Now I must admit when I saw the Django trailors I wasn’t too impressed but I still plan to see it. Then the last 2 weeks there has been so much controversy about the Plot of the movie, the over the top Derogatory language, the blood splattering and blah, blah, blah…So like most movie goers that kind of Publicity had me running to the theatre on premier day instead of waiting for the weekend..

DJango is a very, very good movie and Quentin Tarantino deserved his recent Golden Globe Nods for Best Director/Best Movie/Best Screenplay. The over the top Language, Action scenes & overall Plot is typical of the average Film genres being made today. We all know this is the world Quentin lives in... Artists have to take risks and shocking the Viewer is part of the Entertainment process. I give Quentin a lot of credit for doing double-duty by writing an excellent Screenplay and directing a comical and suspenseful Western centered around Slavery. You know what to expect when you see one of his Flicks but this particular Film shows he’s getting better and better with time. The only problem I had with DJango Unchained is the length of the Film. It was 3hrs but it felt like 5hrs. It was waaaay too long and even the people sitting next to me seemed a bit restless.

Christopher Waltz is truly a Masterful Actor and he’s part of the Glue that holds DJango together ….Chris deserved his Golden Globe Supporting Nod but it will be interesting to see if the Academy Voters snub him.. Leonardo Decaprio also deserved his Golden Globe Supporting Actor nomination not just for his Amazing acting but also for having the Best Southern accent we’ve heard in a long time. Samuel L. Jackson SHOULD have gotten a Golden Globe Nod and deserves a supporting Oscar Nod for being one of the Best scene stealers in the industry. Sam delivered the Goods and was on fire with his supporting role…Unfortunately for Leo & Sam I think they cancel each other out but the Good Critic reviews the Flick is receiving might make them game players when the Oscar nominations are announced. If Tarantino doesn’t get a Best Director Nod I say SHAME on The Academy….

DJango Unchained is definitely worth the Admission price and a trip to the concession counter…

"First and most obviously, this is a grand ol’ time in the best traditions of the western genre. It’s fun, funny, and exciting from the opening scene until the very last shot (hint: don’t leave during the credits, stay all the way until the very end). If you don’t care about any of the messaging or deeper nuances or cinematic history on display, you’ll still be thoroughly entertained. However, it is also much more than that."

Dang it, Had I known there was a Final scene AFTER the closing credits I would have stayed.....This is a good enough reason to see it again...LOL...

Did anyone stay for the Final Scene or did you leave like everybody else in the theatre?
