You shouldn't worry... you see I am in that situation. I gained the weight because of my meds but kept on the weight because of how I was treated as a child who was always underweight and teased relentlessly because of it. It was "healing" for me to stay fat... it was weird medicine to see the reactions of my family members. They teased me so much for being skinny, what could they say now that I was fat?

So now I am fat AND happy....

people see me and say I look healthy and happy, yet I am maybe 60lbs overweight or more? I also see my weight as a deterent for the jerks who would approach me if I were my former slender self.

Being fat taught me much appreciation for seeing the true character of people.

Gain a ton of weight and you see who your real friends are! My "skinny" friends disappeared.

Win some and lose some I guess. No worries though, who needs skinny friends when you can have true ones?

Having that reality slap me in the face did help my self esteem and lead me to being a better person. I learned compassion and learned to look past the physical form and to concentrate on personality.

Now the part where you mention "attitude" of a person does affect their appearance. A poor attitude can be clearly seen in any person. Its the easiest way to tell when someone I love is depressed or going through.

Just please make sure to get checked up regularly. Your health is the most important thing - ask any of your family and friends. They want you around!

I know what you mean about finding real friends. We lost all our money once, and it was amazing who stopped showing up. But it was refreshing to see who did come by!

In previous situations, that treatment has been dealt with via banning. This time, it hasn't been and this thread kept on going.

For a fat chick over forty my stats are pretty good considering, my doctor and nurses are always pleasantly surprised when they see my cholesterol, blood sugar and pressure numbers.

They vary and could be much better if I lost weight, so I will put losing weight on my priority list in the not so distant future... mostly for my children. TY

It is good when the friends do show up during times of struggle, makes you appreciate them more, those are the friends that make life so very special.
