Most of your stuff is home goods...did you move into a new place?
No. I've just spent the Christmas with the same people for the last 10 years, so we know pretty well what we need in our places (I'm notorious for losing all my teaspoons as I accidentally throw them in the trash after eating something, so by the end of the year I'm left with only one or two of them ).
I'm glad that people aren't spending as stupid amounts of money on Christmas gifts as during the worst years of the "economic growth" about 5-10 years ago. I don't want any fancy stuff that I'm not going to use.
Ha! In that case I wish someone would have given me some forks...I'm down to three because of my sons,
I got a pretty scarf, some fancy dark chocolates and perfume. Hopefully the hype is dying down as people realize they need to live within their means. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise. |

My kids had a short list because they recently got laptops...so they knew they'd have 1 present each under the tree from me. They were caught completely by surprise when they got back from mom's and I had a giant box "From Santa" in the kitchen for each. I got them each a footlocker and filled it with "stuff" (clothes, books, puzzles, games, knicknacks)...they were thrilled. My little one actually said; "Dad, it's too much" and his sister (the princess of course) said; "What are you talking about? No it's not too much."
Not counting my Secret Santa gift...
Kids got me a gift certificate, a cool hat, and a necktie that I already own the exact same one of!!!!
Buddy got me a cool mug with a gun handle that says "Bad-ass mother fucker" and dared me to bring it to work tomorrow.
Brother got me a Garmin (GPS thing)
...and mom got me a nice dress shirt.
You are a fantstic daddy! That was so creative. And your son sounds like he could have been my brother. One christmas my dad gave him a Sony Trinitron (remember those?) TV. and he was flabbergasted and kept repeating over and over, "It's too much!" He told Daddy he should return it because again, "It's too much." I quipped, "Oh, nuccah, please! Daddy can't return it cause I bought if hot!" just to shut his ass up. Daddy and Mom fell out laughing. |

Well, some of my childhood friends took pity on me and gave me some nice gifts. I have dinner at her open house every Christmas Eve and she gave me a scent diffuser, the kind with the reeds that stick in a bottle of fragrance. Her sister gave me a mini bottle of Champagne, a box of shortbread cookies, a purse mirror and purse tissues. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful.
I am glad for you.
You had me for secret Santa 2 years ago and you were VERY generous. Thanks again for all those C.D.s.
You're welcome, Flower. I'm so glad you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed picking them out for you. |

wait; Footlockers...interesting. I am not sure if this is what you had in mind but it would be cool to get some for kids that are used each year for Christmas or maybe birthdays too. And after Christmas/birthdays they could fill them with gently used toys, book, and clothing to give away.
I know many places will only take new toys but some will take used. Even if it is a resale shop. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

Look, to show you how my ole ass eyes play tricks on me, on closer inspection of the photograph, I thought your son's foot got caught under and out the other side of the foot locker. Me thought, "Lawd, that child has a big foot!" Incidentally, what is that?

Yeah, that's the oldest's big ole foot. He's outside the foto frame opening his (black) footlocker. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! |
