I assume this is not really a "test" but rather an estimation of one's own self esteem???
I'm probably a 50 I'd guess. Average. Good days, bad days, in-between days...whatever. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

There is not necessarily any connection between self esteem and depression vs. happiness.
My self esteem is not bad these days while my happiness level is close to zero. Listen, if a 53-year-old man can bench press 316 pounds, then he can do ANYTHING. I might shoot for 400 pounds in 2013. I haven't decided if my shoulders are up to it. That's why I'll probably go with Bowling Ball Shoulders first.
Also - and most importantly - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

Hey...I recently learned a "cheat" way to bench and I did one plate on each side for 10 reps.
By next year I should get to 2 plates (that's 225lbs). I think I need to go add to my "Resolutions" thread.... By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

You should atleast be a 50 with your looks. 2014-Year of the Parties

Self esteem has nothing to do with looks.

Awesome! We should get cool t-shirts made up for benching 225. That's like the gold standard in weight lifting.
I like our machine at the gym. It still uses plates, but you don't need a spotter because it starts from the bottom. Here it is, loaded when I did 306 the first time (bars weight 18 lbs each/36 total; weights = 270 pounds):

The other day I went for a new world RodeoSchro record of 316 pounds. I got the right side up, but not the left side! I told my buddy that was half a record, LOL.

Sure it does! At least, to the extent that one with self-esteem cares about how they present their self.
That doesn't mean they have to be a smoking 10, just that they make sure they look their best. Comb their hair, wear clothes that fit and have been pressed, etc.
I've yet to meet the slob that had high self esteem.

I think that what Erin was trying to say is that GOOD LOOKS doesn't necessarily mean high self-esteem. (Am I right?)
Which I agree to you BOTH.
A slob can have low self-esteem, aggravated by his unattractive appearance in a vicious cycle. A hot person can also have low self-esteem, masking their displeasure with themselves by dressing up and putting on a mask. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

She might have been. I never listen to her though, as I heard she can't even get her own....well, you know!
I don't think a good-looking person, i.e. one that presents their self well, has low self-esteem issues as much as they might have insecurity issues. But who knows?
I do know that slobs don't ever have high self-esteem. Although, I'm sure there are some computer programmers out there that are the exception to that rule, LOL. A lot of rock stars, too!

I get what justerin is saying because I know many very pretty (beautiful) women who have low self esteem and I also know "hard looking" women who have great self esteem.
I also know women who dress to the nine's and are SHARP and have zero self esteem and project their issues on others.
Its not what you look like... its more about how you treat others and allow others to treat you.
In my opinion anyways.
But your opinion would explain why so many people are shocked that I am happy being overweight. They think I sould be ashamed or depressed or something by they way they speak to me.

Not in my case. To me, it's not about how you look, it's how you LOOK. In other words, who cares if you're skinny, fat, or whatever? What matters is, did you brush your hair? Do your clothes fit? Are they clean and pressed? (Not are they new, fashionable, etc.) Is your posture good? Are you smiling?
I've known plenty of people that are genetically inclined to a higher weight, and most of them lived long lives. It's like their internal organs - especially their heart - were designed to carry that weight.
It's the ones that put on 50 - 100 pounds just because they eat too much and don't exercise that worry me. Those are the ones that die early because of heart attacks or heart disease.
I hate to see anyone taken away from their family due to something preventable.

Low self esteem can also stem from the people around u If u r with someone who constantly puts you down then it's hard not to have low self esteem and almost impossible to believe in your self I'm prob a 30 - 40 but ask me a year ago and I would have said 5 mailto:www.iDon'tThinkSo.com.Uranus

You are absolutely correct!
I preached in a prison once and it was incredible how many guys told me that they hated prison, never wanted to go back to prison, but kept ending up back in jail. They all agreed that every time they got out and tried to go straight, their "friends" would bring them back down.
They just couldn't break free from their "friends" even though they knew what it was going to cost them to keep them.

You shouldn't worry... you see I am in that situation. I gained the weight because of my meds but kept on the weight because of how I was treated as a child who was always underweight and teased relentlessly because of it. It was "healing" for me to stay fat... it was weird medicine to see the reactions of my family members. They teased me so much for being skinny, what could they say now that I was fat?
So now I am fat AND happy....
people see me and say I look healthy and happy, yet I am maybe 60lbs overweight or more? I also see my weight as a deterent for the jerks who would approach me if I were my former slender self. Being fat taught me much appreciation for seeing the true character of people.
Gain a ton of weight and you see who your real friends are! My "skinny" friends disappeared. Win some and lose some I guess. No worries though, who needs skinny friends when you can have true ones?
Having that reality slap me in the face did help my self esteem and lead me to being a better person. I learned compassion and learned to look past the physical form and to concentrate on personality.
Now the part where you mention "attitude" of a person does affect their appearance. A poor attitude can be clearly seen in any person. Its the easiest way to tell when someone I love is depressed or going through.
