? For The Ladies

What are some of the things that you put on your hair to make it softer, shinier, and healthier? I have heard of some women using Mayonnaise to make it shinier and Lemon juice or vingagar to strip the excess build-up caused by conditioners?

Make sure you consume an adequate supply of protein, hair is all keratin protein.

Shampoo and condition your hair regularly, with products that do NOT leave a strong smell in your hair (no matter how nice the smell). Typically those leave a residue that builds on your hair, leaving it weighted down and sometimes causing hair rot - like those with parafin wax.

AVOID Shampoo/Conditioner combo's! They are worthless.

Don't overprocess your hair by relentlessly perming, coloring, relaxing, and/or bleaching your hair.

Avoid putting it up in a tight ponytail regularly - this stresses the hair, and is the leading cause of breakage.

If you want shine, you could apply a semi-permanent haircolor from the drugstore that is one shade lighter than your own. This adds a great deal of shine, less noticable on curly hair. Or if you don't want to color your hair then purchase a "shine" product, like Sebastian's Laminates for that. Don't overuse, or it will look like you have oily hair.

If you insist on swimming in a pool (chlorine), by all means make sure you shower first, and add some form of leave-in conditioner to your hair! I've seen MUCH damage from chlorine build-up on hair. Or consider wearing a swim cap. The damage it does to chemically-treated hair is not worth it!!!

I use Paul Mitchell's Shampoo One, The Detangler Conditioner, and for hold, Freeze n Shine. In the winter, to prevent static in my hair, I also add Paul Mitchell's The Conditioner. (a leave-in conditioner)

Oh, and another thing... don't smoke. The nicotine adds a dull, yellow stain to hair.

Stale beer is good? After the adults drank all that they could, I would take their leftovers and let is sit for a day or two.

I have golden blonde hair and I use beer on it sometimes, too. The beer really does make the hair shiny and I found it also gives it a bit more body.
