STAR TREK @~

Ummm, did you not see that piece of shit that was called Star Trek V: The Final Frontier? I've seen movies made by children on their camcorders that were better. In fact, Trek has a long standing tradition that all the even numbered ones rock, while all the odd numbered ones blow goats.

Personally, I think the whole Trek vs. Wars debate is quite silly. They really are nothing alike, other than the fact that they both feature space ships. Trek is more true science fiction, while Star Wars is fantasy set against a Sci-fi backround. Trek has a long history, which gives it more depth, but also gives it more room to have massive continuity blunders. Star Wars is more accessible to a wider group of people, but has Saturday morning serial style dialogue. In a nutshell, they both have their strengths and weeknesses, but the two really aren't comparable. Both have had fantastic films (First Contact, Nemesis, and Wrath Of Khan for Trek, and Empire, A New Hope and AOTC for Wars) and really crappy ones (Treks 1,3,5,7 and 9, Episode I for Star Wars).

Nontheless, I love both franchises for completely different reasons. Both have fantastic stories and fantastic characters. Both are fun escapes from the rigors of everyday life. They can coexist just fine. Sure, I'm a bit more of a Star Wars fan than Trek, but its such a minute difference that it really doesn't matter. Oh, and I also love Baylon 5, Lord Of The Rings and all the other franchises that stupid fanboys seem to want to pit against each other.

Deffinately a left brain / right brain thing.

Star Trek, I believe feeds the analitic thinkers while Star Wars caters more twards an imaganitive, fantasy thinkers.

I prefer Star Wars, duh.
Why? Cause that's where my head is.

Interesting theory. I guess I'm a little of both.

warning2all

I think both are HURTIN' right now:

STAR WARS:

Star Wars and Empire are classic films. Jedi was a muppet show, then a teddy bear's picnic. But you accept it because it was part of the original trilogy and wrapped it up.They were fun movies to grow up with.

Phantom Menace feels like a cartoon. It was a so bad-it-'s-good kind of movie. It wasn't as bas as the media wanted us all to believe. It's funny, because I remember some Jar-Jar backlash, but he seem to me to be the only character WITH character. The movie was childish, but creative.

Attack of the Clones was an ugly, ugly, movie. It was ugly visually. It also caved to media and fan complaints, and I think compromised itself.Like No Jar-Jar. Artists who cave to public opinion lose respect with me. If Jar-Jar was suppose to be a major character, stick by your guns. I think half the time the movie felt like a Nintendo video game. The "love" story felt like a high-school play, with the brutal performances and dialogue! "Here everything's smooth, like you Padme":Creepy!

These new movies are going to age very badly. No soul.I'm actually indifferent to the next one- Ijust want to see the kid put on the Vader mask. But, Star Wars is tarnished forever, to me.

STAR TREK:

I think the original show is a all-time classic! Kirk drop-kicking some alien to the music of horns and cymbals crashing is so great! Then he seduces the alien babe. That's entertainment.

I think the Patrick Stewart shows were totally in sync with the times they were made. That show was totally popular. But it's not aging well, with the pollitical correctness, bland characters, and techno talk. We live in different times now. The attitude of that show is pure late 80's-early 90's. That's why the new movie bombed, I think. We live in different times.Patrick Stewart gave that show total credibility. My aunt worked on that show, and she said Patrick Stewart was intimidating.

Deep Space Nine is funky. It was actually ahead of it's time, with terrorist characters and religion. It would do well today. It was on the air during peaceful, pollitically correct times, so it didn't jive and was unpopular.. Now it's revelant.

Voyager and Enterprise I have never seen, because those shows are just blatant milking the cow.

I used to dig all these movies/shows when I was younger, but they seem out of steam to me.They used to be fun though.

Yep, interesting! I love 'em both. Wasn't too crazy about some of the Star Trek TV spin-offs - didn't keep up with them. The whole Star Wars scheme of episodes IV, V, VI and then I, II, III -- very cool! I want to own all the videos. Love watchin 'em with fellow ST and SW fans! I bought this book, "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, The Visual Dictionary"; I love how Representative Jar Jar Binks looks in his Senatorial robe (and the way he talks) and Padme' wears a lot sharp outfits.
