Some say it's the guy that was given god powers....I can't remember his name.

Q?

Gary Mitchell

Most folks are saying the villian with be Gary Mitchell.

However, I've also read that the villain will be completely new and original.

Lawd, would I ever love the bad guy to be Khan.

However, Kirk doesn't actually meet Khan until a few years later, right?

And this guy says that "I have returned" meaning that Kirk has had some aquaintence with him?

Either way, did anyone notice the ship that crashes into the sea is of a retro design? I'm curious about that.

The last abominatio...movie changed the whole universe. Vulcan was destroyed. So who gives a fuck if Kahn had not met Kirk yet? Nothing matters, it's all just about explosions anyway.

OK, fine fine.

But I think this movie will be good if they just put Chris Pine in underwear scenes again. He packs.

Didn't really like any of the Star Trek movies. Not enough coherence, too many exaggerations in characters, too much bombastic hollywood shit and not enough of what makes the series so fucking brilliant.

The Next Generation, DS9, Voyager and the latest series are brilliant, though.

LOVE the Next Generation, it had something none of the others have...

there was some sense of 'home' and comfort on that ship, curiosity humor creativity culture...

I wish the Next Generation movies translated that same feeling, I don't think they did.

I don't think a movie always has to have some larger than ST life threat to the universe situation so every new Enterprise ship is destroyed in the end so the next movie features another new ship to be destroyed plot.

The gravestone initial is easily explained. The guy who inscribed it asked Scooby Doo what Kirk's middle name was, and he was told "Rye-berious".

Everybody wants it to be Kahn., maybe not everybody but a whole lot of people.

Personally I don't care. I just want the franchise to go on and on and on... I mean 28 seasons plus umpteen movies ain't too bad, but it ain't enough. wink

Per the ST 2009 commentary, the other STs had a lot of submarine style warfare, so the newer movies are suppose to be trying to capture more of the Star Wars like excitement, hence the explosions, the glare, a bunch of other stuff, shrug , again I don't care, the submarine thing worked for me, but I kind of get it, the submarine warfare part would be boring to the general audience. Of course if we can get away from a supernova blowing up a galaxy type of thinking that would be nice, I spent a better part of the movie scratching my head on that one.
