New Robocop 2013

"With a wealth of stars in the film including Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Michael keaton, and even Hugh Laurie lining up for villain duties, you'd think producers would sneak in a few shots of this A-list lot, but not a bit of it."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234721/

I do not like the suit confused ...as someone said, it looks like a cross between The Dark Knight and GI Joe???

Another fucking remake - why? The original was a classic. I guarantee this will suck.

Peter Weller, an 80's legend.

This remake, along with every other remake and Hollywood as a whole, is absolutely sick. A massive insult and a kick in a baby's throat.

I hate the generation we're in.

Typical Hollywood.
In most of all of their updates of any film, they homogenize the looks of the franchises to the point where none of 'em have any kind of visual distinctiveness from each other anymore.
I agree that this outfit not only could be used in The Dark Knight or G.I. Joe franchises, but also in any of the Iron-man or Avengers film series.

K

Hollyweird has no imagination or originality left in them apparently. Just keep making the same movies every 15 to 20 years after original or make incessant sequels. It's a shame.

Hollywood does not use the word "Remake" anymore. It's called a "Reboot". But I'm with you...Another fucking REMAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've said it before and will say it again, when they announce that they are remaking "The Godfather", that's when it will be time to start sending some mysterious packages with white powder to the movie studio heads and writers. Just sayin'. wink

Seriously, this could work; with the big budget and the A-list cast, the movie could be actually GOOD, and let's face it: in terms of specials effects and casting, Robocop could benefit from a remake

the '87 version is getting more and more dated as years goes by (unlike Blade Runner, Aliens or Terminator 2, to name a few)= the stop-motion animation looks like crap now, Kurtwood Smith always looked too disgusting to stomach and a bit miscast in my opinion, Peter Weller wasn't particularly good/charismatic, and many of the supporting actors gave hysterical/over-the-top performances (hey, it was a Verhoeven film after all, a guy who made his best films in Holland, during the 70s and early 80s, seriously his Hollywood movies S-U-C-K shrug)

and I always wanted to see a faster-moving Robocop,... it was the original idea, anyway: Weller was FORCED to walk like a lazy hippopotamus due to the heavy weight of the armour...

as long as they don't come up with a new soundtrack (that would hurt, since the original '87 theme still gives me the goosebumps) or tone down the level of violence too much (Robocop without graphic violence makes no sense) I'll be happy...frankly, I don't want something as violent as Rambo IV, but I wanna see blood when the baddies get shot...

Ronny Cox will be hard to replace, though...

why? that movie was prob Verhoeven's best american film; sure, it was an irrelevant film, but as a "erotic/pseudo-pornographic" flick it was excellent

shame, with a few shots of close-up penetrations it could have been the best porn movie of all time; wasted opportunity

the helmet looks sharp, shame about the colour of the suit, though: SILVER would have been a better choice

Oh, I don't dislike the film at all. I've watched it plenty of times.

Maybe it was trashy beyond belief, but the visuals were appealing in a way that wasn't simply based on sex / sexy women dancing.

It's just sort of unbelievable that the film actually made it to production. lol

I remember the first Robocop being an awesome popcorn movie. popcorn Looking back at it, some of the lines were cheesy and the special effects look dated now, but it had some great satirical elements and was witty in parts. The second was just meh, and the third one was sort of bad. I could see how a reboot could work, but they would need to have a coherent story as well as great visuals.

I thought Peter Weller was perfect in the role. I admit I was surprised when I saw Gary Oldman's name. Although I don't like the suit at all maybe it will be okay with Gary in it. And I agree...who can replace Ronny Cox?? lol

Exactly. nod I do NOT like this new Robocop at all. disbelief And it sickens me to know that another 1980's classic is going to be turn into a potential abomination.

You know, to this day I refused to see Michael Bey's versions of The Transformers for the exact same reason. But we will not go there in this thread.
