Jeremy Lin is an above-average point guard who played great in Mike D'Antoni's offense. That plus being in the NYC spotlight made him an instant celebrity. Playing in a different system he's putting up decent numbers, but not exactly setting the league on fire.

He's on the Rockets.

We don't hear much about him here in Houston, either. But that's partly because Comcast bought the rights to air Rockets' and Astros' games, and they haven't made a deal with the other cable providers in Houston.

So the many. many Houstonians that don't use Comcast - including yours truly - cannot watch any Rockets or Astros games.

I won't miss the Astros one bit (traitors!), and honestly, I haven't missed the Rockets either.

I am, however, going to go to a Rockets game in two weeks, Rockets v. Celtics. But that's only to watch my daughter dance. Her dance troupe is the halftime entertainment.

Here's something - upper deck seats near either basket are $75. Are the Rockets worth $75 for the upper deck? No freaking way.

I don't know about Houston, but we have a VERY healthy Asian-american population here that watches basketball, and Jeremy Lin became a near celebrity because of it. Did alot to alter the stereotype of Asians and basketball.

Stupid move to not keep him here.

Purple, Knicks made the right move not keeping Lin. Houston offered him a 'poison pill' contract they knew Dolan wouldn't match. The third year would have cost NY @ $30+ mil and screwed up their cap. Elite point guards get that kind of loot - Jeremy Lin is not elite. For once, the Knicks made a smart financial decision.

No, but I think its because:

(1) Neither the Rockets nor Lin are very good;

(2) Most of Houston cannot watch the Rockets on TV; and

(3) Tickets are f'ing ridiculous. Upper deck is $75
