Would you date someone with vastly different music taste from yours?

Let's say you are hardcore hip-hop fan and your girl is hardcore country music fan.Im talking hardcore-You eat, sleep and breathe this music.

Can it work out?

Good thing about people here on the org,we have vast eceltic taste in music, but I know some music drives people here bonkers.

Also what if your partner only listen to one style of music? Like strictly metal head music.

As long as we're compatible every other way, & she's sexy as hell, I would date her. We can gradually adapt to each others tastes over time. lol

I can listen to anything, but I don't want to hear the same type of music all the time. That would be annoying

I'm a music snob so no. I'm open too about different music, but they have to appreciate mj and other 60s, 70s , 80s and 90s. I don't want a simpleton who likes only today's mainstream with ignorance about the past. I would love him to be into classical, Spanish and jazz, which I want to know more of

my husband and i had very different music taste when we first got married. but now we like more of the same artist's and have even introduced each other to new music that we now love. so it can work, opposites do attract.

My ex and I had so much the same taste in music that it was scary in a way how 2 people's tastes can be so much alike. And it already was like that before we met, it was naturally like that. So I was spoiled as we were together for 17 years and travelled together to see our favourite artists live in concert and enjoyed listening to the same music. Now I am in a relationship with somebody who does not like the music I love at all, but is listening to reggae 24/7. As we are in a long distance relationship I am okay to listen to his kind of music when I am staying with him (hell I even sometimes listen to the reggae songs we were listening to together when I miss him lol ), but I wish he would be more open to the music I like too. Reggae is not what I would hear on my own, but I do not dislike it. If somebody would love music that I really cannot stand at all it would be hard, but not a no-go if I truly love the man.

No. There has to be some thread of commonality between us in that regard. Luckily my hub and I have about a 40% identical itunes library...that was a key factor in making me dig him lol

EVERY woman I date has different musical tastes than me. I'm into early 90s grunge (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc.). None of the black and latina sistas I hang with dig that stuff. They give me that WTF look.

Muscially, I'm very open. But, I'm hardcore Soul/R&B. So, if I were interested in a man who was hardcore Hip/Hop, I could date him. But, live with him? hmm That would be pretty difficult. There would definately have to be a musical bond there for me to seriously date a guy.
