Yup - Napoleon Dynamite. I thought it was the dumbest movie ever the first time I watched it, then laughed my butt off the second time. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I got thru 20 minutes of that before I turned it off.

I can't think of one just the other way around - like the princess bride, when I was a youth that was hilarious, now I'm the mistake you wanna make

The first time I watched this, I went in with a show-me attitude, exacerbated by my dislike of Bill Murray:
The second time through, I could see why it was critically-acclaimed.

No, but when it comes to TV, I can say "Yes" to your question as it pertains to America's Sweetheart, Honey Boo Boo Child.

NO
If I dislike/hate a film at first sight, that means there is a reason to dislike/hate it;
but the opposite often happens to me: to like a film only to dislike it after repeated viewings...

I didn't hate the film when I first saw it, but I really turned my nose up at it. Now, I'm probably one of its biggest fans.

It still tastes like soap, to me! We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

No, some movies I didn't like I watched again (like Watchmen, I like supeheroes so I didn't understand why I didn't like this one), but I still don't like them...so I let it go

i have no idea why i can tolerate it these days... i made no effort to adjust to the taste, i kept avaoiding it, and yet one day i ate some accidentally and just realized, 'hey, this is okay.'

"Dumb and Dumber" First time it was just stupid. I couldn't even sit through the entire movie. The second time it just struck me as hilarious. It still makes me laugh. I'm firmly planted in denial

omg the dred of having to sit thru 2 hrs. makes that rare but I did give The Ark of Truth a second watch and I still don't like the one scene that originally turned me off to the entire movie I was able to pay better attention to the rest of it and it wasn't so bad.

In the last few weeks the smell of it changed for me I've spent my adult life tolerating it despite its sour dishcloth smell. All of a sudden it's taken on some celery overtones and I love it I'm the mistake you wanna make

Secret Ceremony. (1968)WhenI first saw I thought is was too wierd and sick but after watchingit again I love it. The only thing, the version I saw was the pre- edited version not the butchered version that comes on cable from time to time. I'm hoping someone has the pre-edited version of this film somewhere in a safe.

Alien - I saw it when I was 8ish. That shit scared the shit out of me. Now I love it.
The Thing (1981) - Same as the above.
The Shining - Same as the above.
Lord of the Rings (Fellowship of the Rings): OK, I didn't dislike or hate it. I disliked the experience and found the movie to be torturously long. The reason was that I saw it after a long, sunburn inducing day out at sea on a boat and riding wave runners and a dinner where far too much alchohol was consumed. The theater was also packed and we couldn't find a seat far enough back, so we were too close to the screen and the movement combined with my inebriation.....well, that combination wasn't good.
Saw it the next week, and liked it. Now I love it.
Prometheus - HATED it at first. Now I like it midly.
Skyfall - I found it terribly formulaic and dull at first. Now it's amusing.
UTCM - Still a very bad movie. But an enjoyable one in parts. Plus the atmosphere of the movie is a real escape from reality. Not many movies do that anymore.
Glitter - Oh lawd, what a crapfest. I saw it on cable T.V. and couldn't beleive how bad it was. It's still just as bad as ever, but it's wonderful for a few laughs.

I absolutely did not like the remake of Miami Vice. I was always a HUGE fan of the TV series and I hated the idea of Colin Farrell as Sonny. The first time I watched I was mad. But I gave it a second try and now I love that movie. I bought it and watched the outtakes and if you actually listen to the dialogue it's a great movie. One of my faves now. Gong Li is "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

Batman (the one that Prince did the soundtrack for). I hated it the first time I saw it. It was nothing like the 1960s TV series which I was expecting. I watched it again a few months ago and I was actually able to sit through it and enjoy it since I already knew it wasn't like the TV series. The TV series was still 10 times better though.
