What was you biggest fight on the ORG about and with which Orger?

honestly, aaron (the orger currently known as errant) and i used to go round and round and round like you would not believe.

we both said some INSANELY cruel things, ones i am sure we both look back at now with a regretfull eye. we were two people (of several) at the heart of a very dark and massive blowup that had the org warring for weeks. it was not cute... scores of people got banned, and i am sure there is still a lot of bad blood out there about those events.

but as we got older, we both matured, and we made our peace with each other. nowdays, we follow each other on twitter and facebook.

i actually rather enjoy him now.

nowdays, if i have a problem with an orger, i just tend to ignore them. i tenderly mock the ones i like but have no real clue what they are debating in p&r, but they generally dont bother me.

i dont want to speak too much for aaron, but we've both mellowed with age and maturity, and i think we both see it in the other.

i actually would like to meet him in person the 8 years since the blowout.

I have two questions:

1. An anonymous benefactor has fallen utterly in love with your artistic vision and has agreed to bankroll the big-screen film project of your choice. You must serve at least as producer and you're bound only by your imagination. What do you have in mind -- title, inspiration/source material, talent, etc?

2. I've noticed you haven't showered me with ardent compliments and praise in recent times as you once did. Will this be changing in 2013?

no, not still high smile

i grew up acting, and kind of got burned out on it. i was in a sketch comedy group, and quickly found i excelled at the writing more than the other people in the group, and really enjoyed it much more. then i spent a few years just editing other people's long form stuff, as i had only ever written short form stuff. it was good training for writing my own long form.

then i got very sick and almost died. while laying in the hospital for weeks, and ruminating on death, i realized i had spent enough time editing, and now i had something to say. so i started a play about death and denial. 6 months later, a good friend was murdered, and it made me look evene deeper into death, and i expanded into the project i am finishing now.

along the way, a musical i co-wrote got picked up by NYMF (new york musical festival) and so before i had even finished my first solo flight as a long-form writer, i already had a show produced.

i dont spend as much time as i should. when inspiration comes, it comes hard and strong. but when its not there, i cant force it. art is kind of trick that way. some artists manage to find a way, but most artists cant hide a forced effort

princes recent hair makes me think of my grandmother's old white lady aquanet fro. i just cant get past that. it looks like someone drew a pencil thin mustache on my grandmother. i kept waiting for prince to turn to the camera and start questioning my life choices while sipping whiskey.

plus, i am afraid to look up a pic of andre and see what he looks like today. cause i am betting it aint cute

it seems like fun, but you could never get me to do that. i have vertigo something awful. heights are not my thing, and i can guarantee i would have a panic attack at some point, probably before even getting on the plane.

it seems safe enough, but still nuts

obvious answer would be turning the 5 play cycle i have written into 5 movies. would love to driect and write, not so much produce.

but since that is such an obvious answer, i will choose something else.

i often say there isnt a lot of other writers stuff i would want to direct, BUT i would kill someone to be able to make a movie version of passing strange, which was my favorite musical of all times. if you have not seen it, i highly recommend it, especially to you. its on dvd, and its a staggering piece of brilliance.

trailer for the filmed live version:

yes, lammas. consider it a campaign promise. smile

noooo I'm sure he's fine

Good answers. smile

I've really wanted to see Passing Strange since you first introduced me to the title. I've just never come across it.

There are a few interesting rental places around here with a pretty eclectic library. Maybe this week I'll more aggressively search for Passing Strange.
