I hear you, I wasn't saying that 12 isn't promiscuous, just saying intentions 2 me gives more clarity to what that is happening with the person
I niave person who thinks this is the one, may not really be promiscuous, even if it's 12 times a year lol
if for 3.5 weeks they are getting to know someone then sleep with them thinking they have some kind of hope together, that might not fit promiscuous. Niave and a few other words, yes.
pro·mis·cu·ous (pr-msky-s) adj.
1. Having casual sexual relations frequently with different partners; indiscriminate in the choice of sexual partners.
2. Lacking standards of selection; indiscriminate.

I understand this
I didn't get that this was about you, it read hypothetical
I think it still could be considered promiscuous, even more so for the female
At least your honest with them (I hope you are 100%) but the women probably aren't always honest

How the hell does a definition of an action or behaviour apply more to one sex than the other?
If you have multiple partners over a relatively short period of time, you're promiscuous - that's it really. It's not dependant on what sex you are. You either are or you are not.

Im saying that's how it usually is seen socially, still. Promiscuous is promiscuous to me
men get a certain pass that women don't always get

You don't need to tell me that there is a double standard...it was just that the way you said it implied that you also bought into that ridiculousness.

I haven't slept with 12 partners yet, but I have done 3 in about 4 months. One I've known a long time--she's a single mom who doesn't want a serious commitment yet. One works like a dog like I do and just wants a fwb. The other one is too soon to make a call one way or the other. I'm a black guy who loves Prince , 80's pop music, sports, I'm moody, only want to bothered when i feel like it, have a needy Spoiled golden lab and I work 65 hours a week. That's a lot to deal with and I don't see me changing too much at age 44. (If that helps figure me out) But I'm fun

fact is women get bad reputations for being promiscuous, while most m/f men get accolades for the same. “Transracial is a term that has long since been defined as the adoption of a child that is of a different race than the adoptive parents,” : https://thinkprogress.org...fb6e18544a

ocupational hazard vs. sexual prowess
com'on you know we men get raked through the coals about bein 'dogs' (all we do is chase pussies) even if all we do is look good. if we walk down the street and three women say hello to us, if we just look at them, we gotta be fuckin. So, in some cases it's just a simple matter of "if you gonna give a dog a bad name, he may as well use it".

promiscuous according to whose definition? probably more like, popular with the ladies.

Absolutely, but I don't think many people care. Unfortunately the ones that do care are very vocal about it. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Yes, BUT it's unfortunate that most people would think this: 12 partners a year for a woman = ho. Twelve partners a year for a man = stud. No difference; they're both hoes.

I'm an old man and settled down now but even when I was really out there, I don't think I had more than 12 sexual partners in my entire lifetime! But, that was my choice. I was always too scared. Condoms meant "safer", not necessarily "safe". So I always aired on the side of caution, which caused me to be VERY selective of who I had sex with. Personally, for myself, I think 12 different partners in 12 months is bit promiscous. But, I believe most people think that's quite normal. I know some folks who have had 12 different partners within the last month. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Hell, I'd be happy as hell if I slept with 12 different partners in 12 months nowadays because I'm much slower than I used to be. But when I first came out of the closet, I was 22 years old and I remember keeping up with them back then. I had 23 partners that year (one more partner than the number of my age). Since then, the numbers increased and I stopped counting. Then I stopped even asking names. Hell, the name wasn't what I was interested in anyway so why even ask because the motherfuckers are just going to tell you a lie anyway. That was the 1990s. In the early 2000s, I started have two, three, and even once four at the same time in orgies. I've slowed way down since then to maybe only one or two a year. Damn, it's no fun anymore. Men certainly get a pass and get looked up to and called a player while a woman gets look down on and called a whore. But I've always loved the whores, sluts, tramps, jezebels, etc. and look up to them rather than down on them. The ones I look down on are the goodie two shoes.
Like they say though, the gay man is the male version of a whore. Hell, we even call each other whores and do it with pride. And some of our best friends are the female whores, sluts, and tramps.
But as for the double standard between permisuous straight men and permiscuous straight women, yes it exists. And since men are more permiscuous than women, that double standard kinda comes back to haunt them when they get horny and women don't want to give it up because they've been taught that if they sleep around, they are whores. Which means a straight man is going to get laid a lot less often than a gay man because not only are we whores, but so are our partners. When you're a whore and the people you sleep with are whores also, you're going to get laid more. I think that's why so many straight men hate us. The motherfuckers are jealous. Well hell, there's no need to be because they created that double standard themselves. Actually, I'm kinda glad they created it because when these women don't want to give up because they'll be labelled a whore if they do, and these men strike out all night long with them, where do you think they end up trying to get somebody to satisfty their horniness? Yoooo Hoooooo!!!!! Come here motherfuckers! I'll take care of that for you and you don't have to beat around the bush all night with me and possibly not get satisfied. I'll do as soon as we say "hello". . . . [Edited 11/9/12 3:23am] Andy is a four letter word.

oh , no I don't believe that, I was calling other guys ho's back in the 1980s
I was very sensitive to how men treated women, a lot of hurt and broken women who dealt with men who who were ho's, I used to say back when I was a teen: Just tell the truth, if you don't want to be exclusive and you know she does then leave her alone, if you're honest about what you want other women who want the same will meet you. Don't lie to that woman, lead her on and then get mad when she expects more..
