Does anybody have a Car FM transmitter for Ipod...........
I've recently became aware of such a device. Does anybody on the Org have one or have any recommendations? I want to play my IPOD in my car but I don't have a port for Ipod connection. What would you recommend?

Can u get an audio line added 2 your current system?

U loose some sound quality but it is also very convienent. I would buy one if out of other options. Nest bet would be to get a different head-unit that has a port for external audio input. Head units are cheap enuff these days....at least some of them. Of u have a tape deck, they have adaptors for those to. Not being sarcastic, just factual.

If you have a cassette deck, the absolute best thing in the world is this: ![]() Costs about $40 on amazon. 100x better than fm transmitter or the wired cassette adapter. I was about to replace my factory radio Which is actually a high end Boston system. The sound is incredible. Cd-quality

r you talking about adding a wire harness from the trunk and running it up to the cabin? I seen on youtube where if you have xm radio....you can plug some type of male plug wire and plug into xm radio transmitter in trunk and run from trunk into cabin. I thought about that. But I was trying to go cheap and least invasive route.

That's kind of ironic.....a tape adapter for an IPOD. Do they make if for 8track too...LOL. thanks for the info.

So have you ever hard wired your car for IPOD. I thought about doing it. Can't be that expensive?

I've got one. It's generally cool, but because you must synch the device to a free radio frequency wherever you are, if you happen to drive into an area where that frequency begins to receive a signal, you will suddenly encounter an annoying mix of your own music and radio programming.
If your car has a cassette deck, I'd recommend you try a high-end cassette input adapter like the one mentioned above. I've also found the sound quality of that sort of hookup to be superior to FM adapters, and there is no signal interruption. [Edited 11/8/12 10:06am] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

My truck has a Harmon Ipod system, my SUV has a USB/SD card and Audio jack. My other cars they would not touch with trying 2 add any mods at all.

I've tried them but the signal always bleeds. Especially if you're in a big city. It's hard for me to get a frequency that doesn't get overrun by an FM station.
We hooked one of those male/female switches to the Aux/Satellite radio port in our '03 Suburban and it works perfectly. It will cost $100 or so for parts and installation but it works like a charm.
Best $100 I ever spent on that truck.

I don't know if the technology's improved since I had one, but - like Rodeo - I found the radio signal caused static (at best) and crossover (at worst).
Yeah, if you have a cassette deck, use a cassette adapter.

I have a wired one that's just fine.

I've had a couple: one I bought for $5 from eBay which worked very well except it was also supposed to charge but did so only intermittently. There is hardly ANY free FM space where I live and my old radio didnt have e FM2 switch so it never got used. I ended up getting a reasonably cheap Sony headunit for my birthday and new speakers, the old ones were crumbly cardboard 17 years later :falloff: I'm happy now I'm the mistake you wanna make

Go to a flea market or summin....check Craigslist even list and just get a deck that has an auxiliary input or something. Some have them sitting.g out right in front. Even better if u could find one with a US j.put in front. U could probably get one for fifty bux....it seems that adaptor runs 40....all u need after a deck w/ input is a headphone audio line w/ 2 male ends.....$3 @ radio shack.

I have a wired one that's just fine. The wired one plugs in through the head phone jack and the sound is not nearly as good as the dock But to each his own

I'm sure that has much more impact than headphones vs. dock connector.

I had an ipod input installed on my car, which had a cassette deck. The cassette was broken, so I couldn't use the adaptor.
I could have gotten a whole new [cheap] stereo for less than the input, but my stereo is factory, and I don't have to worry about someone wanting to steal a factory cassette player. My Legacy

I tried the FM transmitter for a while, but it really burned the ipod battery and did not sound that great. My Legacy
